Q:   Can I participate in JoSAA counselling if I don't have 75% marks in class 12?
A: 

As per the elgibility criteria released by the IITs, It is mandatory to have minimum 75% marks (65% for reserved category) in class 12 to take admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Candidates should apply for JoSAA conselling only if they fulfill all the conditions of eligibility. However, many institutes admit students on the basis of JEE Main where there is no requirement of minimum marks in class 12.

Q:   How much rank should I attain to get IIT Kharagpur?
A: 

To get admission to IIT Kharagpur for BTech(Hons)/BS based on JEE Advanced, candidates must have a valid rank in the exam as per the cutoff list. IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 has concluded with the release of the final round.

The last round cutoff ranks among the General AI category candidates varied between 466 and 19141. Therefore, to get admission to the college irrespective of the course specialisation, candidates must have a rank of 19141 or below if belonging to the General AI category. If the student is interested in top branches such as CSE, then the target must be below 466. 

Please note that other categories, rounds, etc., will have different cutoffs accordingly.

Q:   Can I get admission at IIT Kharagpur in BTech CSE if my rank is between 0 and 5000?
A: 

The cut off rank in Round 6 for B.Tech. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Engineering is 279 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Yes, IIT Kharagpur does accept GATE scores for admission to its M.Tech programme. Applicants must have a valid GATE score relevant to the discipline of their qualifying degree. The JEE Advanced cutoff rank for CSE stood at 22 which was also the most competitive BTech specialisation for admission. The easiest courses for admission in 2024 were B.Tech. (Hons.) in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering and B.Tech. (Hons.) in Electrical Engineering. The closing cutoff for both these courses was 72 and 133, respectively.
