Students admitted to IIT Kharagpur's (Hons.)/Dual Degree/BBS Programs through JEE (Advanced) are only eligible to change their branch after fulfilling a set of rules. Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For general category under All India, opening rank was 5395 and closing rank was 5847. Compared to all the above categories, the PWD category students faced fierce competition for all the courses offered at IIT Kharagpur. The JEE Advanced cutoff rank for CSE stood at 22 which was also the most competitive BTech specialisation for admission. The easiest courses for admission in 2024 were B.Tech. No, admissions in IIT Kharagpur without entrance exam is not possible. The modes of IIT Kharagpur course admissions are both online & offline. Admission to various courses is based on merit & scores of entrance tests. The accepted entrance exams are GATE,  JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and others.
