Arts (Fine/Visual/Performing) or Arts course is a vast subject and consists of a wide expressive discipline. Arts mainly includes fine, visual and performing arts. It is a broad field comprising of various social issues, environment, causes etc. Arts course is designed in a way that it provides an outlook. Candidates aspiring to study Arts course must have qualified calss 12th with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised board or institute. Arts courses can also be pursued by candidates after class 10th through online medium. Arts courses which are pursued after 10+2 are bachelor's degree programme, master's degree programme in arts, Fine Arts or Applied Arts courses. Candidates can also chhose deifferent specialisations after the degree courses in arts.
Types of Art Courses- UG & PG
Arts Courses are mainly divided into three divisions: Fine Arts, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts. These courses are available both at undergraduate and post graduate level. These courses are divided into four to six semesters. In the first year and second year, candidates are taught core subjects and in the third year of UG courses, candidates are given the option for specialisations. Meanwhile, in PG courses, candidates are taught about the specialisations. Art Degree Courses -UG
Arts degree courses at undergraduate level is mostly a full-time regular course focusing on subject areas like Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. These courses are of three to four years' duration. Admissions to these courses are usually done on the basis of merit. However, there are many colleges and universities that conduct their entrance examinations.
Online Art Courses- UG
There are many online websites that offer online arts courses. These courses are designed in such a way to offer basic knowledge to candidates about the Arts syllabus. Art Diploma Courses- UG
Arts Diploma courses at undergraduate level are also known as UG Diploma in Arts courses. It is considered to be one of the effective courses as it can be pursued right after 10th or 12th standard from any stream including (Arts, Science or Commerce). Art Degree Courses –PG
Arts degree courses at postgraduate level is generally a full-time course. It focuses mainly on specialisations after completing the bachelor's degree programme. These courses are opted for by students who focus on specialisations. The duration of Masters of Arts courses is two years. Admissions to these courses are provided through both state and national level entrance exams. There are 5050 MA Colleges in India.
Distance Art Courses- PG
The duration of master’s degree courses through distance mode in Arts is from two to eight years. In order to pursue a master’s degree in Arts, candidates need to have done bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline. There are many colleges like School of Open Learning, Delhi University (SOLDU), Karnataka State Open University and others provide distance arts course at PG level.
Art Diploma Courses- PG
This course is also known as PG Diploma. In order to pursue this course, candidates need to have a bachelor's or diploma degree in the required discipline. The duration of this course is usually one year.
Art Certification Courses- PG
Arts certification courses are also available for candidates at PG level. These courses are usually of 1 hour to six months duration. Admissions to Art certification courses are usually done on the basis of score obtained in bachelor degree course. This course is available in both offline and online mode.
