TNEA is conducted based on the marks secured by candidates in the Class 12 examination. Tamilnadu engineering admission 2024 dates will be released by the authority. The authority will conduct TNEA 2024 counselling for the General and Vocational categories. Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission 2024 – Procedure
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (Tamilnadu Engineering admission) is a centralised process through which lakhs of students are admitted to engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu through a single-window counselling process. Earlier, the admission to engineering courses was conducted by Anna University but from 2019 onwards, DoTE is conducting the admissions. The Tamil Nadu counselling process will be held online in four to five rounds. To facilitate the process, around 54 facilitation centres have been established in the state of Tamil Nadu. Based on the area and number of applicants, each district will have one or more Tamilnadu Engineering Admission Facilitation Centres (TFCs) to help students through all the counselling stages. Tamilnadu Engineering Admission Counselling 2022 will start for the General stream in online mode. Shortlisted candidates have to appear for Tamilnadu Engineering Admission 2022 counselling as per their aggregate marks and ranks.
The counselling schedule will be released by the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) in Tamil Nadu. However, the detailed schedule for each round is yet to be released.

Filling up the Tamilnadu Engineering admission application form: The application process involves registration, application fee payment, filling in academic details and taking a printout of the filled-in application form. To be eligible for Tamilnadu engineering admission 2024, candidates have to pass the qualifying examination i.e. 10+2 or intermediate and other eligibility criteria as prescribed by the authority. To participate in the Tamilnadu Engineering admission counselling process, candidates have to fill out and submit the Tamilnadu Engineering admission application form 2024 in online mode.
Payment of Counselling Fees: Candidates who have successfully registered for the exam have to pay the counselling fee as per their respective category. The counselling fee for different categories are as follows:
- General/OBC – Rs. 500
- SC/ST – Rs. 250
- For each special reservation category - Rs. 100
Choice filling & locking: Tamilnadu Engineering admission choice filling will be available for all candidates who have paid the initial payment for Tamilnadu Engineering admission counselling. Candidates can enter their choices as per their preferences for courses and colleges. Candidates will get three consecutive days to fill their choices and after that, the system will automatically lock the choices.
Tentative Tamilnadu Engineering Admission Seat Allotment 2024: After the locking of choices by the candidates, the system will tentatively allot the choice based on rank and the applicant’s order of preferences. The applicants through their login can view the same the following day after locking the choices.
Submission of Allotment Options: After the tentative allotment, the applicant can also either confirm decline or reject the allotment. The allotment option is given to get the applicant’s decision based on the tentative allotment.
Final Seat Allotment: The authority will release the first list of Tamilnadu Engineering admission 2024 seat allotment in online mode. The list of candidates will be prepared solely based on the merit list prepared by the authority, choices filled and category of the candidate. Candidates have to log in to their Tamilnadu Engineering admission account to see the result of seat allotment. Candidates can either accept the seat or surrender the seat to participate in the next round of seat allotment. After confirming the seat, candidates have to report to their allotted institute/college of Tamil Nadu.
Reporting to the respective college/institute for admission: After the final allotment, the applicant has to report to the respective college for Tamilnadu engineering admission within the allotted time. Candidates have to submit the remaining fee (deducting the initial deposit paid to Tamilnadu Engineering admission) at the time of admission to the college. The provisional allotment made to them will be automatically cancelled. However, such candidates can claim a refund of the initial deposit from Tamilnadu Engineering Admission.

BE/B.Tech admission in Tamil Nadu is done based on the online counselling process called TNEA. There is no state-level entrance exam for admission in Tamil Nadu. Candidates have to register and appear for the online Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions TNEA counselling held every year. 10+2 passed/appearing candidates can apply for TNEA counselling. Admission will be based on marks obtained by the candidates in the relevant subjects, namely, Maths Physics and Chemistry which will be reduced to 200. TNEA 2026 counselling process includes registration, assignment of random numbers, Certificate verifications, rank list publication, and finally the counselling. The counselling rounds will include steps like Choice Filling, Allotment, Confirmation of Allotment, and Reporting to the College/TFC and payment of fees depending upon their confirmation.
The candidaes whose name will appear in the TNEA rank list are selected in TNEA counselling. Based on the TNEA ranks of the candidtaes, seats will be allotted to them via the TNEA counselling process.
The following candidates are considered as native of Tamil Nadu state:
- Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed their Class VIII to Class XII standard in Tamil Nadu.
- Children of Central Government Employees, irrespective of their nativity, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years at the time of TNEA application form submission.
- Sons/daughters of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers. Children of employees in the Public Sector or Government recognised institutions who at the time of TNEA 2025 application form submission had been working in their organisations for the past five years are also eligible to apply, irrespective of their domicile.
- Other state candidates who have studied from Class VIII to Class XII in Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA 2025.
- Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the VIII, IX, X, XI and XII standards or their equivalent examinations from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply for TNEA.
