In conclusion, pursuing an M.Sc. at IIT Kanpur may not be ideal for students seeking immediate career prospects or high-paying jobs. However, for those interested in academia, research, or pursuing a PhD program, IIT Kanpur offers excellent infrastructure, faculty, and curriculum. Ultimately, the decision depends on your academic goals and priorities.

IIT Kanpur offers the M.Tech programme in 15 specialisations, including Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering & Management, Photonics Science & Engineering, Sustainable Energy Engineering and Earth Sciences. All these specialisations together have a total intake of 736 students spread unevenly.

The total tuition fee for M.Tech courses at IIT Kanpur ranges between INR 20,000 to INR 77,000. This fee, however, is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative. But as per the official details and fee calculation as per the semester-wise fee break up available for 2021-22 academic year, the total fee for M.Tech stands close to INR 77,000. This amount is  inclusive of Hostel Seat Rent as per the guidelines issued by IIT Kanpur but is not inclusive of the Hostel Admission Fee components since day scholars are not charged hostel admission fee, hostel caution money, water charges and mess establishment charges.

The total fee for the four-year BS programme of IIT Kanpur is INR 8 lakh. This is inclusive of the one-time admission and caution deposits but is not inclusive of the hostel fee. However, this fee is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence, is indicative. For the exact fee, students can reach out to the admission office. Other than this, students are required to pay the JEE Main application fee which is INR 625 (for boys) and INR 325 (for girls). For JEE Advanced, the application fee ranges from INR 1,400 to INR 2,800 for different category students. 

With respect to the past years' cutoff, Mathematics and Scientific Computing is considered to be the most competitive specialisation under this programme. Followed by this, Statistics & Data Science and Economics are the popular specialisations available at IIT Kanpur. However, a specialisation must be selected out of interest, past academic experience and qualification rather than on the basis of popularity and competitiveness. 

At IIT Kanpur, students are offered various courses at the UG and PG levels. Admissions to these courses are entrance-based. Students are offered the following courses at the institute:

IIT Kanpur Cutoff 2024 was released for admission to M.Tech courses was concluded, on the basis of GATE exam. In IIT Kanpur, the cutoff was released for M.Tech. in Photonics Science and Engineering, with the cutoff rank of 658 for the General AI category. Among the OBC AI category candidates, the cutoff rank for the same course closed at 588. The cutoff was also released for other categories under the All India Quota.

Students who want admission to MTech at IIT Kanpur should have a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (4-year course) or must have completed their master's degree in Science with the specified marks. A relaxation of 5% aggregate or 0.5 CPI is offered to reserved category candidates. 

IIT Kanpur BSc admission is entrance-based via JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced. The process of applying for JEE Mains consists of three steps, i.e. registration, form filling and document upload followed by the application fees payment. Given below is the IIT Kanpur BSc admission process:

STEP 1: IIT Kanpur BSc Application Process 2024

Candidates seeking admission to BSc at IIT Kanpur must submit the online application form for BSc course and JEE exam. Candidates must fill out the JEE Main application form via the official website of the NTA. After qualifying JEE Main, candidates are required to apply for JEE Advanced.

STEP 2: IIT Kanpur BSc Selection Criteria 2024 and Release of Merit List

After completion of registration process, candidates need to go through the JEE Main and JEE Advanced followed by the counselling process for final seat allocation.

STEP 3: IIT Kanpur BSc Admission Confirmation

After completion of the selection rounds, shortlisted candidates can submit the IIT Kanpur BSc fee to confirm their admission.

Students have to submit some documents for verification process during IIT Kanpur admissions & applications. The list is as below:

IIT Kanpur also accepts GATE exam scores for the admission to M.Tech courses. Candidates with 700 score can easily get admission to any course except Discontinued (Jul 2023)-M.Tech. in Microelectronics and VLSI at IIT Kanpur. The IIT Kanpur cutoff 2024 stood between 622 and 840 for the General AI category candidates. The toughest and the easiest course to get into IIT Kanpur were Discontinued (Jul 2023) - M.Tech in Microelectronics and VLSI and Discontinued (Jul 2023)-M.Tech. in Power Engineering for the General AI category candidates. A valid GATE score is required for admission to the M.Tech programme in the case of regular (non-sponsored) candidates. The requirement of GATE score is waived off for the candidates with MBBS degree as well as for the BTech graduates from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in BTech. Additionally, A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (four-year programme) or a master's degree in Science with marks/ CPI not below the specified minimum is required for M.Tech admission.

IIT Kanpur offers a four-year BS degree (Bachelor of Science) which is also referred to as BSc by many. At the undergraduate level, IIT Kanpur offers this programme in full-time and it provides both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Science. Available across six specialisations, admission to this programme is entrance exam-based (JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced).
