The aggregate marks for PwD candidates should be at least 65%. OR Candidates must have passed class 10+2 (or equivalent) Board examination with a minimum of five subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects) and be within the category-wise (category as per the central list) top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective 10+2(or equivalent) board examination. [Five Subjects: i) Physics, ii) Chemistry, iii) Mathematics, iv) A language (if the candidate has taken more than one language, then the language with the higher marks will be considered) and v) Any subject other than the above four (the subject with the highest marks will be considered)] Other Mandatory Criteria: Candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. IIT Kharagpur offers a joint MTech/ MCP PhD programme to students who have completed their UG degree in the relevant stream. Those who do not qualify for PhD can continue with their two-year MTech/MCP programme.
