IIT Madras BSc Placements
According to media reports, 1,091 students were placed in phase I and phase II of 2023-24 placements. More than 80% of BTech/ Dual Degree and 75% of Master degree students were placed till April 30, 2024. In addition to this, out of 300 PPOs offered 235 were accepted. The total count of participating companies stood at 256. Furthermore, 44 international offers were made. The IIT Madras average package and median package for the 2024 batch stood at INR 22 LPA and INR 19.60 LPA, respectively. The majority of students (40%) placed during IIT Madras placements 2024 received job roles in the Core sector, followed by 20% offers in the Software sector. As per the media reports, IIT Madras has modified the BTech curriculum to accommodate internships for 6 months duration.
Earlier, the 2023 placement drive concluded with 1,612 offers from more than 480 companies. The highest package offered to BTech and MTech students during IIT Madras placements in 2023 stood at INR 1.31 crore per annum and INR 54.21 LPA, respectively. The median package offered to MS (Engineering Streams) and MSc (Science Stream) was INR 15 LPA and INR 9.62 LPA, respectively. Further, the IIT Madras highest package recorded for MA and MBA during placements 2023 was INR 26.57 LPA and INR 30.66 LPA, respectively. STEP 1: Application Process

STEP 2: Selection Process
Admission to the BSc programme is offered in two modes, either via Regular entry or through an entrance exam.
- Admission via regular entry*:
- Qualifier Preparation: The qualifier process includes four weeks of coursework based on lecture videos, assignments, and live sessions that will be provided through online portal. Every week an assignment must be submitted for grading.
- Qualifier Exam: At the end of the four weeks, a qualifier exam will be conducted for eligible candidates.
- Admission via entrance exam:
Candidates must qualify and submit the score of current year JEE.
STEP 3: Counselling and Admission Confirmation
The institute then declares the merit list and the shortlisted candidates are called to appear for the counselling process who must then pay the IIT Madras BSc fees.
