NIRF 2025 Rankings are out. As per the latest NIRF 2025 rankings, NIT Meghalaya ranks #83 under the category 'Engineering'.
A few more updates are given below:
- The IIT JAM 2026 exam date for admission to the MSc course is Feb 15, 2026.
- The CSAB Special Counselling 2025 Round 3 has concluded with the announcement of the seat allotment results for admission to BE/BTech courses.
- The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech/PhD courses will be conducted on Feb 7, Feb 8, Feb 14, and Feb 15, 2026.
- The JEE Main registration 2026 is now open for admission to BTech, BArch, and BPlan courses. The registration deadline for session 1 is Nov 27, 2025, and the exam will tentatively be conducted between Jan 21 and Jan 30, 2026.

NIT Meghalaya Highlights 2025
NIT Meghalaya is one of the 31 NITs established under the NIT Act 2007. The college has been categorised as the 'Institutes of National Importance'. It is funded by the Government of India. NIT Meghalya has been placed at the 83rd position in the "Engineering" category by NIRF 2025. NIT Meghalaya offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across Engineering and Science streams. BTech is the flagship course offered at this college in various Engineering disciplines. NIT Meghalaya also offers well-equipped campus facilities to students, including modern classrooms, well-stocked library and medical and sports facilities, among others. NIT Meghalaya accepts JEE Main scores for admission to BTech. The GATE scores are accepted for admission to MTech, and PhD. NIT Meghalaya offeres MSc in full time under three specialisations, as follows
The programme is offered via choice-based credit system covering core subject topics, including Organic Chemistry, Symmetry & Group Theory, Molecular Spectroscopy, etc. Students can get into the MSc course based on a valid score on the IIT JAM exam and the counseling conducted by the Centralized Counseling for MSc CCMN
The total tuition fee of the M.Tech programme at IIIT Bhagalpur is INR 6,500. These fees are excluded of other fees that are payable only at the time of admission. NIT Meghalaya JEE Mains 2024 cutoffs have been published for admission to BTech, Integrated BTech, and BArch programs. In Round 4, JoSAA cutoffs for 2024 varied between the 20013 and 48731 values. Notably, the B.Tech. in CSE is highly competitive among General category students under the AI Quota.
When we see the cutoff for NIT Meghalaya in 2024 and compare it with the past years, we see that B.Tech. in CSE has shown a decreaseing trend in its final ranks. The Round 4 cutoff for this course was 18905 in 2023 and 17503 in 2022.

The NIT Meghalaya JEE Mains Cutoff 2024 was released for Round 1. The Cutoff ranks were released for different categories for various BTech specialisations. For the SC AI category candidates, the Cutoff for various courses ranged between 3059 and 7043, among which Computer Science and Engineering was the most competitive course. BTech in Civil Engineering was the least competitive course, for the SC AI category candidates.

Yes, if we talk about National Institute of Meghalaya, there are few kind of scholarship available, basically it depends on the category from which you belong .
If you are from SC or ST category you don't need to pay any tuition fee you just have to pay hostel and mess, and apart from that, you will get government scholarship from various scheme as per my knowledge what my friends are getting is around 60-70 thousand per year so from that only you can pay your college fee.
If you are from general or OBC category then it depends on your family income, if your family is making less than 2 Lacs you don't have to pay tuition fees but apart from this you can't get any other scholarship.
If your family income is more that 2 Lacs and less than 6-8 Lacs, I don't know exactly then you have to pay only 1/3 of tuition fee.

Hostel facilities are not bad but not too good it depends upon several factors that from where you are if you are from home state Meghalaya itself its quite good but if you are from other states the food be little problem to you, other factors if you consider you will get wi-fi, water purifier is there, geysers are there, electricity is available most of the times. In a room nearly 2-3 peoples are sitting. Currently its operating from a temporary campus so all hostels are not at the same place for every course like Ph.D. M.Sc. B.Tech they all are having different hostels, and they are far apart from each other. But possibly we are shifting to our permanent campus to sohra, hostel facilities will be quite good there but again it will be in out area so you will not be getting any thing out there. I think the worst thing about the hostel is the food especially if you are a vegetarian.

You can get CSE in GFTI as per the JoSSA counselling cutoff last year. You cannot get any branch, like CSE, ECE in NIT at this rank.
