NIT Nagaland Admission Process 2025
NIT Nagaland admission process consists of application, selection, counselling, followed by subsequent admission confirmation. NIT admission is completely entrance-based and depends on valid JEE Main ranks. Interested candidates can follow the steps below to complete the NIT Nagaland admission process:
Qualify for JEE Main, GATE, and IIT JAM
Interested candidates in taking admission to BTech course are required to appear for the JEE Main exam. For MTech and MSc, the accepting exams are GATE and IIT JAM, respectively. JEE Main exams are conducted in two phases starting from January to March. GATE usually conducts the exam in January. IIT JAM exams are held in the month of February.
Apply for JoSAA/ CSAB/CCMT/CCMN counselling
Students with a valid JEE Mains and GATE score are eligible to apply through JoSAA/CCMN/CCMT. Applicants must go to the JoSAA official website to register themselves. They must select NIT Nagaland as their preferred institute. Also, for MTech and MSc course admission, students are required to visit the CCMT/CCMN official website to register. For PhD, candidates must apply via the NIT Nagaland's official website.
Seat Allocation
On the basis of NIT Nagaland cutoff, JoSAA will allocate seats according to the candidate's JEE Main score. Seats for MTech and MSc courses will be allocated based on CCMT/CCMN, respectively. Further, NIT Nagaland will release a list of shortlisted students for PhD admission. Leftover seats will be filled in through the Institute Entrance Examination after CCMN counselling.

NIT Nagaland admission starts with the registration process for JEE Main January session. Admission to NIT Nagaland is subject to various national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main and GATE. NIT Nagaland offers a two-year full-time MTech programme spread over four semesters for two years in regular/full-time mode. To apply for the MSc at NIT Nagaland, candidates first must qualify for the eligibility criteria: B.Sc. The first round of seat allotment of CCMN will be out in the first week for June 2026, tentatively. The official dates of first round of CCMN seat allotment were released on the official notification.
After the first allotment is done, the document verifying officer will notify the applicants to further participate in the counselling process.
In case applicants don't get a seat in first seat allotment then can further apply for the next round of allotment.
The application fees for CCCMN counselling varies for different category candidates.
For the General, General-EWS and OBC category candidates is is INR 3,500 and that for the reserved category candidates it is INR 3,000.

NIT Nagaland offers doctoral-level programmes in full-time mode, part-time and sponsored mode. The PhD programme in full-time and part-time programs is two years long but can be extended at the candidate's convenience. PhD is offered in the disciplines of CE, EEE, ECE, CSE, EIE, ME and S&H (Mathematics, Physics, English), Integrated PhD.

GATE is a national-level examination that aims to evaluate the knowledge and aptitude of candidates in preparation for admission to engineering and management programmes. GATE Application Process 2025 began on August 28, 2024. Earlier, the deadline for registering for the GATE was October 3, 2024 (without late fees). However, The last date to fill the application form was extended with late fees till October 11, 2024. Candidates were able to fill out the GATE Application Form 2025 by visiting the official website; i.e. gate2025.iitr.ac.in.
