UCEED is conducted once a year for admission to the BDes programmes offered by participating institutes. Candidates planning to appear for the exam often ask how many attempts for UCEED are allowed. As per the UCEED eligibility rules, a candidate can appear for the UCEED exam a maximum of two times. Both attempts must be made in consecutive years. Candidates cannot skip a year and use the second attempt later.

How Many Attempts for UCEED?

UCEED exam 2027 will have 2 attempts in total. These two attempts must be in consecutive years. The two attempts are counted together. 
For example, if you are planning to take the exam in 2027, then you must take the 2028 exam. You can not appear for 2029 exam session. Therefore, candidates should check their UCEED eligibility and plan their attempts carefully.

The UCEED attempt limit is two attempts. Candidates cannot take the exam more than twice. The attempts also need to be made in consecutive years.

Eligibility criteria for UCEED are given below.

  • Age limit - Candidate must be born on or after October 1, 2002. In the case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories, there is a relaxation of 5 years.

  • Number of attempts - Candidate is allowed to appear in UCEED exam for a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years.

  • Academic requirements - Candidate must have passed 10+2 exam in 2026 or 2027. Those who appeared for first time in their qualifying examination in 2025 or earlier are NOT eligible.

Q:   What is the application fee for UCEED 2027 exam?

The application fee (expected) for UCEED 2027 form is 

  • Female candidates (all categories) and SC/ST/PwD candidates have to pay INR 2,000.
  • All other candidates need to pay INR 4,000 as the application fee.

IIT Bombay released the admission notification for UCEED 2027 on October 1, 2026.

Candidates can check out the notification online at the UCEED admission portal uceed.iitb.ac.in. IIT Bombay has launched a new admission portal for UCEED 2027. 

Can I Give UCEED Multiple Times?

Yes, candidates can give UCEED multiple times. But only up to two times. The two attempts must be taken in consecutive years. A candidate cannot appear for UCEED for a third time.

For example, a candidate appearing for UCEED 2027 can appear again for UCEED 2028. They cannot appear for UCEED 2029 as their third attempt.

Are UCEED Attempts Allowed in Consecutive Years?

Yes. The attempts allowed for UCEED must be in consecutive years. This means candidates who want to use their second attempt need to appear in the following year.

For example, the following attempt pattern is allowed:

  • UCEED 2027: First attempt
  • UCEED 2028: Second attempt

However, this pattern is not allowed:

  • UCEED 2027: First attempt
  • UCEED 2028: Did not appear
  • UCEED 2029: Second attempt

Therefore, candidates should keep the consecutive-year rule in mind while planning their UCEED attempts.

The most difficult part can vary from student to student. In UCEED 2026, MSQs and some NAT questions were reported to be more challenging, while Part B was also time-consuming.

Yes, but drawing practice is important because Part B includes drawing questions. Candidates don't need professional-level drawing skills, but they should be able to communicate ideas clearly through sketches.

UCEED is one of the accepting exams for admission in BDes programme of MIT-WPU, Pune. However, it is not mandatory. Aspirants with scores in NATA, NIFT Entrance Exam or NID or MIT-WPU CET can also get admission in BDes provided they also pass the selection rounds.
