IIT Bombay releases data on how many students registered for B.Des. UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam is a national-level entrance test conducted by the IIT Bombay for admission to Undergraduate (UG) and Post Graduate courses offered by IITs. It is one of the biggest Design entrances.

How Many Students Apply for UCEED every year? The Indian Institute of Technology is expected to release data on how many students registered for B.Des programme. UCEED 2026 Entrance Exam is a national-level entrance test conducted by IIT Bombay for admission to Undergraduate (UG) programs offered by participating IITs. It is one of the biggest Design entrance examinations, which records nearly 15 thousand registrations. UCEED Entrance Test was conducted on January 18, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 PM.

Q:   Where can I find previous years' exam analysis for the UCEED exam?
A: 

The candidate can find the previous years’ exam analysis for the UCEED exam on this page. The exam analysis will cover both Part A and Part B of the exam. Note that it is mandatory for candidates to qualify Part A; or else Part B answer booklet will not be evaluated.

The UCEED exam analysis for a particular year will cover in-depth analysis of the question paper for that year. Consequently, it will include details like sectional and overall difficulty, questions asked, marking scheme, good attempts, and expected cut-off. By consulting the cut-off for previous years, the candidate will be able to figure out what is a good score to get admission to one’s favorite college.

Q:   Who will set the UCEED question paper?
A: 

IIT Bombay, which is the exam conducting body of UCEED will prepare the question paper for the entrance exam. The question paper of UCEED will include two parts - Part A and Part B. It is mandatory for candidates to appear in both parts and also qualify Part A. Note that the Part B answer booklet will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A.

Q:   What is the best time to take UCEED 2026 mock tests?
A: 

The official mock tests are meant to be taken in the last few weeks before the UCEED 2026 exam. So, you shouldn’t typically take mock tests at the start or even middle of your UCEED 2026 exam preparation. The logic being mock tests are not designed to help you improve your problem-solving ability or your time-management skills. In fact, mock tests are meant to help you get a exam like ambience before the exam and understand what is like to be inside the exam centre. 

That being said, mock tests designed by some coaching institutes are more comprehensive and might help you build problem-solving ability and time-management skills. 

Q:   What is the process to take mock tests for UCEED 2026?
A: 

If IIT Bombay conducts any mock tests for UCEED 2026 exam, it will be hosted online at uceed.iitb.ac.in. So, to take mock tests, candidate will have to go to the UCEED - IIT Bombay admission portal and click on mock test link. 

On clicking on the mock test link, a log-in window will open. It is likely that the log-in id will be prefilled. So, all you need to start the do is click on the log-in button to access the mock tests. After logging in, click on the “Start” tab to start the mock test.

Q:   What types of questions will be asked in Section 3 of UCEED question paper?
A: 

UCEED Part A question paper will include three sections. Of these three sections, Section 3 will include 28 multiple choice questions. Each of these questions will carry 3 marks. 0.71 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. The total marks for this section is  96. Each MCQ will have four options. Out of these four options, only one is correct.

Q:   What will be the structure of the UCEED question paper ?
A: 

UCEED question paper will have two parts. Part A will be online and Part B will be offline. Part A will include Numerical Answer Type, Multiple Select Question and Multiple Choice Question. Part B will have sketching and drawing questions.

Q:   What is the exam pattern for UCEED 2027?
A: 

UCEED consists of two parts:

  • Part A (Computer-based): Objective questions (NAT, MSQ, MCQ)

  • Part B (Pen-and-paper): Drawing and design aptitude questions

Q:   What key points do candidates need to remember about UCEED Part B of question paper?
A: 

Candidate needs to remember following points about Part B question paper of UCEED.

  • Part B will include TWO questions. Question for section will be shown on the computer monitor.
  •  Candidate, after reading the question, has to write/ draw the answer option in the answer booklet provided by the invigilator.
  • Part B test will evaluate the drawing ability and Design Aptitude of the candidate.
  • Part B is mandatory and will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies for Part A.
  • The cut-off marks for Part A will be declared by IIT Bombay before the declaration of results.

The candidate needs to practice the following topics to prepare for the section: Conventional/Unconventional Materials for Construction, Design, and Decoration Texture Making Materials, Production Materials, Decoration Materials - Flooring, Cladding (protective material which covers the surface of something), Wall Protection and Decoration - Paints, Plasters, etc. Pattern and Design of Paper Folding Materials and Type of Texture Optical Illusion (2D/3D objects and understanding).

Yes, UCEED Exam score is accepted for NMIMS DAT Admission. Such candidates have to submit their portfolios and appear for a Personal interview.

Both institutions offer the BDes course but with completely different admission processes. IIT Indore accepts admission based on the UCEED entrance exam, while BITS Pilani considers the NID Entrance exam/ BITSAT exam result.

No, you cannot get into IIT Bombay with a UCEED cutoff rank of 20 for the BDes course. IIT Bombay 2026 admission closed at a cutoff rank of 14 for B.Des in the General category under the AI quota. Hence, candidates must target a lower cutoff rank than 2020 to secure a B.Des seat at this college.

No, students can not get admission in Symbiosis Institute of Design Nagpur with UCEED scores. The institute conducts its own entrance exam. Students must appear for the Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design - SEEED instead.
