When applying for NIFT 2026, you must upload all the relevant documents and ensure they meet the required specifications. Read everything you need to know about NIFT 2026 application documents and prescribed specifications.

NTA will soon open the application form for NIFT 2026. NIFT 2026 Application forms and Notifications will be released for B.Des, M.Des, B.F. Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M programmes. The application form will be released at @nift.ac.in. The NIFT entrance exam application form is the same for all courses. 

When applying for the exam, the candidate had to upload all the relevant documents in the prescribed format. If the candidate didn't follow the guidelines, they can't upload the document, or the application may be rejected. Also, if all the relevant documents aren’t uploaded, the candidate may not get the preferred seat or even miss out on admission altogether. For instance, if the candidate doesn’t upload their category certificate, then they will be considered for admission under the open category.

Q:   When will the NIFT 2026 application form open?
A:

NIFT Application 2026 is expected to open anytime now in November 2025. NIFT 2026 Application forms and Notifications can be out anytime now for B.Des, M.Des, B.F. Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M programmes. The application form will be released at  @nift.ac.in. The NIFT entrance exam application form is the same for all courses. The application fee for NIFT will be around INR 3,000 (INR 1500 for SC, ST, and PwD categories). NIFT Application forms can also be filled with late fees. The late fee will be around INR 5,000.

Q:   What is the last date to fill out the NIFT 2026 application form?
A:

The NTA has released the admission schedule for the NIFT 2026 entrance exam, including the application dates. The last date to fill application will be in the first week of January 2026.

Candidates applying a late fee will have to pay an additional INR 5,000.

Q:   Can I pay the NIFT 2026 application fee using demand draft?
A:

As per the current system, there is no scope to pay the NIFT application fee using demand draft. 

The candidate has to pay the NIFT application fee online using online payment gateway, including credit card, debit card, or net banking. 

Note that unless the application fee has been paid successfully, the NIFT 2026 application form filling process will not be considered complete. The NIFT application fee for general category is INR 3,000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, and PwD candidates only need to pay INR 1,500. It is recommended that candidates pay the fee specific to their category, or else the candidate may not be considered for admission.

NIFT Admission Process 2026

The admission process for NIFT 2026 is will open soon.The NIFT 2026 exam will be conducted for admission to the B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses.

NIFT entrance exam 2026 will be conducted in two stages.

  1. Stage 1 - The candidate will first take a written exam - NIFT CAT and NIFT GAT
  2. Stage 2 - If shortlisted, the candidate has to appear in NIFT Situation Test/ NIFT Personal Interview

The final result of NIFT 2026 will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exam and Situation Test/ PI.

NIFT 2026 Application Form - Document Required

The list of documents to be uploaded while applying for the NIFT 2026 exam is outlined below.

  • Copy of Board / University Certificate as proof of Candidate’s Name, Mother’s Name, Father’s
  • Name and Date of Birth
  • Type of Identification–Bank A/c passbook with photograph /Passport Number/ Ration Card/
  • Aadhaar Card Number/ Voter ID Card Number/ Other Govt ID
  • Qualifying Degree Certificate or last semester marks sheet
  • Your Mailing Address as well as Permanent Address with PIN code
  • Four cities for Centres of your choice
  • Category Certificate, if applicable
  • Undertaking / Result Awaited Certificate, if applicable
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate, if applicable
  • SC, ST, OBC (NCL) Certificate, if applicable
  • Person with Disability (PwD) Certificate & UDID, if applicable
  • E-mail address and Mobile Number of the candidate
  • Candidate’s Photograph.
  • Candidate’s Signature in running hand.

What if I don’t follow NIFT 2026 application format?

The candidate may face several issues if they don’t follow the NIFT 2026 application form document guidelines. A few of them are explained here.

  • The candidate may not be able to upload the document.
  • This means the application process will be incomplete.
  • Even if the candidate somehow manages to upload the document, there is a chance the application may be rejected because it doesn’t meet the prescribed specifications.

So, make sure that you follow the given instructions when uploading the documents.

Q:   Will NTA alter information entered by the candidate in NIFT application form?
A:

The NTA will not edit/ modify/ alter any information entered by the candidate under any circumstances. It will also not entertain requests for change in information. So, you must exercise utmost caution when filling up the form.

Request for corrections made by any candidates through Post/Fax/ WhatsApp/ Email/ by hand will not be entertained by NTA.

How to fill NIFT Application Form 2026

To apply for the NIFT 2026 exam, candidates must follow the steps listed below.

  1. Create an applicant account - The candidate must use their Aadhaar details and get them verified. Next, they need to enter their email ID, mobile number, and parent’s name. On successful registration, an applicant account will be created.
  2. Fill in the application form - Log in to the newly created applicant account and fill in academic qualification, correspondence address, personal information, and other relevant details. 
  3. Select NIFT 2026 test center - The list of available exam cities will be shown in the drop-down menu. Select the relevant city.
  4. Upload documents - You will have to upload documents per the given format and specification. 
  5. Pay the application fee - Finally, pay the application fee of NIFT 2026 to complete the application process. Note that the application fee is category-specific. The application fee is non-refundable.

Will there be a NIFT 2026 Application Form Correction Window?

Yes, NTA will allow candidates to edit the NIFT 2026 application form. NIFT correction window will open after the application form closes. Using the correction window, the candidate can correct all particulars in the application form, except for the mobile number and email ID.

NIFT Admit Card 2026

NTA will release the NIFT 2026 admit cards separately for the written exams and Situation Test/ Personal Interview.

The admit card will be released for all candidates who complete the NIFT 2026 application process. The admit card has to be downloaded online from the NTA portal using one’s application number and date of birth.

On the day of the NIFT 2026 exam, the candidate needs to bring with them the admit card and a valid photo ID proof. Without these documents, the candidate will not be allowed inside the exam center. The admit card will carry details like the candidate’s name and roll number, date and time of the exam, name and address of the exam center, and exam-day guidelines.
