CEED 2023 exam pattern has been released by IIT Bombay on September 22 along with the exam notification. Candidates planning to appear for CEED 2023 must familiarise themselves with the CEED exam pattern in order to understand the structure and marking scheme of the question paper.

The CEED question paper is divided into two parts – A and B. Both the parts of the design entrance exam are conducted on the same day. 

Part A will include objective-type questions and will be conducted in computer-based mode (CBT). It will be a design aptitude test and will evaluate the candidate on a number of parameters like - visual and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language, observation, and design 

Meanwhile, Part B will include five questions that will test the design, drawing, and writing skills of the candidate.

CEED Exam Pattern 2023 for Part A

Part A of CEED exam consists of objective-type questions – MCQ, MSQ and NAT. Candidates need to attempt the CEED Part A exam on a computer in a duration of one hour. Questions asked in this section of the CEED exam are from topics such as Visual and Spatial Ability, Environmental and Social Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Language, Observation and Design Sensitivity.

CEED Exam Pattern 2023 for Part B

Part B of the CEED 2023 paper comprises questions to test an aspirant's design, drawing, and writing skills.

In CEED Part B, questions are displayed on a computer screen and candidates need to solve them on an answer booklet provided by the invigilator. There are five questions in CEED Part B that candidates need to attempt in a duration of two hours.

The total marks for Part B will be 100.

The marking scheme for CEED 2022 varies for Part A and Part B of the design exam. There is negative marking in Part A; however, there is no negative marking for Part B.

CEED 2023 Exam Pattern: Important Points to Note

Some of the important points that candidates must keep in mind regarding CEED exam pattern 2023 include:

  • All questions of CEED Part-A and -B will be displayed on a computer. While candidates have to enter the answers for Part-A in the computer, the answers for Part-B have to be written in the provided answer booklet.
  • To answer each question asked in NAT section of CEED Part-A, candidates need to use a virtual keyboard. No choices for correct answer are shown in this section.
  • Each MSQ contains four choices, out of which one or more answers are correct
  • Each MCQ contains four choices, out of which only one answer is correct
  • Scribble pads will be provided by invigilator for rough work for Part-A of the exam. The pads have to be returned after the exam is over.
  • Each question in Part-B of CEED exam is mandatory
  • In Part-B, candidates are allowed to use items such as colour pencils, crayons and sketch pens unless otherwise specified in a question

CEED Score 2023

When CEED result is declared then the final CEED score of candidates is determined by giving 25 percent weightage to marks obtained by candidates in Part A of the exam and 75 percent weightage to scores obtained in CEED Part B exam. The formula to calculate CEED 2022 score is as mentioned below:

CEED Score= 0.25 x (marks of Part A) + 0.75 x (marks of Part B)

Q. What is the weightage of CEED Part A exam?

A. In Part A of the CEED exam, candidates have to attempt 41 questions. Part A of the CEED exam includes MSQs, MCQs, and NAT questions. Maximum marks that aspirants can secure in the CEED Part A exam are 100.

A. In Part B of the CEED exam, aspirants are evaluated out of 100 marks. In this exam, candidates have to attempt five drawing questions which are related to Creativity, Sketching, Visual Sensitivity, Form Sensitivity, and Problem Identification.

A. The difficulty level of CEED exam is maintained by authorities over the years. However, most design aspirants share that if the difficulty level of all design entrance exams conducted for PG level courses is compared then CEED is slightly easier than the NID Entrance Exam. This is primarily because the drawing questions asked in NID DAT are considered to be tougher than those put forth in the CEED exam. 

Q. How can I qualify for CEED?

A. Part A of CEED exam is a qualifying test, candidates need to clear this exam if they want Part B to be evaluated for them. 

Q. When is CEED exam conducted?

A. CEED is conducted in the month of January, every year. In 2022, the exam was held on January 22 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
