Improve your sketching skills - Candidates must practice sketching regularly. Always carry a notebook with you because you never know when your mind will be crossed by any striking thought.

  • Follow a timetable - With less than four months left for the exam, make a study timetable. The timetable must be made by you after consulting on what you need to do.
  • Solve sample papers - There are multiple benefits of solving CEED 2026 sample papers. For instance, it will help you to understand what the question paper is about, the difficulty level, the marking scheme, the topics from which questions are asked, etc. Consequently, by solving the mock tests, you can improve your problem-solving skills and time management.
  • Scoring process - Can you score off all the topics? If yes, read all the topics. The CEED syllabus with vast, and you need to read all the topics so that you can answer as many questions as possible.
  • Difficult Topics - If you are not able to master a topic even after some effort, give it up for the time being. It is, however, recommended that the cadidate goes through the Table of Content of the book they are planning to buy. This will help the candidate check if the said book covers the revised CEED syllabus or not.

Q:   Can I depend only on CEED books to prepare for the exam?
A: 

Simply relying on textbooks for CEED exam preparation is not enough. It is because the CEED exam will evaluate the conceptual understanding of the candidate and also whether they are able to use those concepts to solve various types of problems.

So, along with the textbooks, the candidate also need to solve sample papers. In fact, the candidate can start solving sample papers very early on in their preparation.

Further, mock tests are another great tool to fine tune one’s preparation; mocks, however, unlike sample papers, are meant to be taken closer to the exam.

Q:   Can I get admission in M.Des programme if I do not meet Part A cut-off?
A: 

The qualifying cut-off is the minimum marks a candidate needs to score in the paper to get shortlisted. Part B answer booklets will only be evaluated if the candidate gets shortlisted.

So, if you don't meet Part A cut-off marks, you will not get shortlisted and you Part B answer booklets will not be evaluated. Also, note that only shortlisted candidates will be assigned a merit rank in CEED 2026.

CEED Entrance Test is conducted offline. There are two parts in the Question paper: Part A and Part B. Part A has 44 questions and Part B has 5 questions. Both the parts of the exam will be held on the same day.

IIT Bombay, the exam conducting body, releases the official question papers for the CEED entrance exam. The question papers are typically released after the completion of the exam. This means the CEED 2026 will be uploaded to the official exam portal after the CEED 2026 exam is over.

Q:   What are various other resources, other than books that I can use to prepare for CEED Entrance exam?

While text books should be the primary resource for CEED Entrance exam preparation, there are other resources candidate may use effectively. For example, YouTube has many educational and preparation videos that candidate can refer to.

To identify quality and genuineness (or correctness) of the data, you can go through the video reviews. In some cases, review section may be hidden. In that case, you better stay away, as it is difficult to find the quality of the content.

Q:   What should I do if I am finding a CEED topic difficult and not able to complete?
A: 

You can give a few attempts. But after that, move on to the next topic. Don’t spend too much time on one simple topic because you will run out of time and will not be able to complete the syllabus. Leave that topic and try to study at the end if you have ample time left.

Q:   Are CEED 2026 eligibility criteria the same as those required by the participating colleges?
A: 

The candidate must note that IIT Bombay is only responsible for conducting the CEED Entrance exam. Unlike UCEED, it will not conduct any Joint Seat Allotment.  

This means the eligibility criteria prescribed by IIT Bombay is limited to appearing in the CEED 2026 exam. Further, the participating institutes of CEED 2026 will individually determine the eligibility criteria for the M.Des courses. The eligibility criteria will be uploaded on the admission portals of these institutes.

Q:   Is the CEED exam tough?
A: 

The difficulty level of CEED exam has been maintained by authorities over the years. However, most design aspirants share that if difficulty level of all design entrance exams conducted for PG level courses is compared then CEED is slightly easier than NID Entrance Exam. This is primarily because the drawing questions asked in NID that are considered to be tougher than those put forth in CEED exam. Note that CEED exam is for admission to the M.Des courses offered by the eight participating colleges. Meanwhile, the NID that for the M.Des programme has three participating colleges.

Q:   Does IIT Bombay recommend any books for CEED 2026 exam preparation?
A: 

IIT Bombay is exam conducting body for CEED 2026. The institute, however, doesn’t prescribed any study material for the exam.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.

No, IIT Bombay will not send the hard copies of CEED 2026 Scorecard. The scorecard of CEED will be issued only in online mode. The candidate has to download it from the CEED admission portal - ceed.iitb.ac.in. To download the scorecard, log in by entering your email id and password.
