How is the MHT CET Percentile Calculated?

The CET cell releases MHT CET result of candidates in percentile scores. The percentile is calculated from the marks of candidates in all three subjects. After appearing in the exam, candidates have doubts about what will be their percentile score and how a mark corresponds to percentile. Check the process below that CET cell uses to calculate the MHT CET percentile scores.

The first step in the calculation of the MHT CET percentile is the calculation of raw scores using the MHT CET marking scheme:

To calculate the actual score of candidates, the MHT CET marking scheme is followed. The marking scheme of MHT CET exam is.

  • +2 for correct answers in Maths paper
  • +1 for the correct answer in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology papers
  • No negative marking for any wrong answer or unattempted questions

The next step is converting the raw scores into percentile scores:

The CET cell uses a specific formula to convert the raw marks of the candidates to a percentile score.  A similar method of calculating marks is also employed in several other major entrance examinations such as JEE Main. The formula used is as follows:

MHT-CET-Normalization-Formula

The MHT CET 2026 percentile scores will reflect the percentage of candidates who have scored less than that particular score in the examination. The percentile score will be calculated up to 5 decimal points to minimise ties.
