The CET Cell uses a normalisation method that considers the number of candidates and the top score in a session to compute the percentile, making exact predictions difficult until the results are announced. How is the MHT CET 2026 Percentile Calculated?

The CET cell releases the MHT CET results based on percentile scores derived from candidates' performance in three subjects. Following the exam, candidates usually look to understand their percentile and how it correlates with their scores. Here’s the method the CET cell uses to determine these scores.

The MHT CET percentile is calculated based on raw scores calculated using the MHT CET marking scheme. The actual scores of candidates are obtained using the MHT CET marking criteria.

The marking scheme for the MHT CET exam consists of:

  • +2 marks for every correct answer in the Maths paper
  • +1 marks for each correct answer in the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology papers.
  • There is no deduction of marks for incorrect answers or questions that are left unanswered.

The next step is converting the raw scores into percentile scores:

The CET cell uses a specific formula to convert the raw marks of the candidates to a percentile score.  A similar method of calculating marks is also employed in several other major entrance examinations such as JEE Main. The formula used is as follows:

MHT-CET-Normalization-Formula

The MHT CET 2026 percentile scores will show the percentage of candidates scoring lower than a specific score, calculated precisely to five decimal places to minimise the ties.

It is important to check the MH CET 3-year LLB marks versus percentile. This is because college admissions are based strictly on your final percentile rank rather than your raw score.

With a 51 percentile in MHT CET you might have limited options for top-tier engineering programs. Since you already possess a specialized, high-value professional course, so I think repeating an engineering/technical entrance exam to join a lower-tier private college will take you a step backward.

Sorry, but according to me with 96.09 percentile in MHT-CET through PCB, you cannot get admission to ICT for B.Tech Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology. The cuttoff competitively closes around 99.0 to 99.9 percentile.
