- MHT CET 2026 reservation will be as per the Government of Maharashtra's and India's policies
- All the reservations provided will only apply to candidates who belong to the Maharashtra State. This is subject from time to time to fulfillment of the eligibility criteria stated by the respective authorities

The percentage of seats reserved for candidates from backward class groups from the state of Maharashtra is as shown below.
Reservations for Women Candidates
In accordance with the provisions of Government Resolution No. (123/2000)/ GEC-1000 / Tech. Edu.-1, dated April 17, 2000, there is a reservation of 30 percent seats for women candidates. There will be no reservation for female candidates who come under the categories of Defense, Persons with Disabilities, and Orphans.
Reservations for Children of Defense Service Personnel
Children of ex-service personnel residing in Maharashtra State are eligible for Five per cent (5 per cent) of an institution's total approved intake, subject to a limit of five (5) seats in each CAP institution. This includes:
- Children of active service staff (DEF-3) who are transferred to the state of Maharashtra but are not domiciled in the state of Maharashtra.
- Even those who are not domiciled in the State of Maharashtra but their families are stationed in the State of Maharashtra under the provision of family accommodation retention at the last duty station on grounds of education for children. This is considered if the candidate has appeared and passed the HSC examination from a college or school in the state of Maharashtra.
Candidates who appeared in class 12 board exam this year must upload their admit card issued by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Admit card should have photo and name of candidate and should be clearly visible. The dimension and size of the scanned document has to be within the permissible limit.
Higher and Technical Education department in the year 2023 announced that 50:50 weightage will be given to CET score and Class 12th marks for admission to undergraduate professional courses in Maharashtra state from the academic session 2023-24. As per this criteria, marks of class 12 and MHT CET will be considered for preparing the merit list in 50:50 ratio. Only those candidates who will have their names in the merit list will be considered for admisison.

Reservation for Persons with Disabilities (PwD Candidates)
Five per cent (5 per cent) of all CAP institutions' overall approved intake seats are reserved for applicants with a minimum threshold disability of 40 percent. Given below are the disabilities:

A single merit list of all eligible candidates will be drawn up. The allocation of seats reserved for PwD candidates will be done on an inter-se merit basis.
The candidates who claim reservations under this category must submit the certificates issued from the competent authorities.
PwD Candidates will get no allowances or additional facilities in academic activities other than those offered by the respective universities upon admission to the degree course are provided.
Reservations for EWS Candidates
10 per cent of seats will be reserved for candidates from the EWS. These seats are to be in excess of the sanctioned intake.
Reservations for Orphan Candidates
One per cent (1 per cent) of CAP seats are reserved for Orphan Candidates (with the exclusion of Minority institutions, All India Seats, if any).
How to Apply for Seat Reservation for MHT CET 2026?
- Students wishing to claim a reservation should fill out the online MHT CET 2026 application form
- Applicants are required to submit the caste certificates and other valid certificates when filling out the preference form
- Applicants will not be granted seat reservation if they fail to submit the completed MHT CET 2026 seat reservation form
- Candidates must send the Caste Certificates and the Caste / Tribe Validity Certificate to apply for MHT CET 2026 seat reservation
Commissioner/ Jr. Commissioner, Tribe Scrutiny Committee of respective Region [Kokan (Thane), Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Amravati, Nagpur, Nandurbar and Gadchiroli] provides the Tribe Validity Certificate to applicants who belong to the Scheduled Tribes.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Executive Magistrate /Metropolitan Magistrate in Maharashtra will provide the certificate that recognizes the caste under a particular backward category.
There is no minimum qualifying marks in MHT CET exam. Candidates gets all India rank in MHT CET on the basis of the marks they get in the exam. Admission to the institutes is given on the basis of all India rank of candidates. After the release of result, Maharashtra CET Cell releases the merit list which is formulated by considering marks of class 12 and MHT CET and will have All India rank of candidates. The seats will be allotted in institutes based on All India rank.
Yes, other state candidates can apply for MHT CET. However, reservation benefits will not be applicable to them. All institutes have certain number of seats reserved for All India quota. Candidates from outside Maharashtra will be considered for All India quota seats. Candidates from outside Maharashtra will have to appear in JEE Mains exam to be eligible for participating in MHT CET counselling.
Yes, candidates who have done two years ITI course after class 10 are eligible to appear in MHT CET exam. As per the Govt of India directives, 2-year ITI is considered equivalent to 10+2 (class 12) and thus they are eligible to apply for any exam where the minimum eligibility conditions of education is class 12.
