CSAB Special Round 2019 for IIITs, NITs and GFTIs

CSAB 2021 Counselling: Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) will start the registrations for the special rounds of counselling tentatively in the third week of November. Candidates will be able to register for the CSAB special rounds by logging into the official website using JEE Main application number and password. CSAB 2021 special round seat allotment results will be announced by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). Candidates will be able to check the results by logging into the official website with their JEE Main 2021 application number and password on the official portal.

Those who will be satisfied with the allocation of the seat in either of the two rounds can report at the allotted institute for the final admission as per the schedule. The official notification for admission to the NITs, IIITs and CFTIs through CSAB 2021 counselling will tentatively be released any time soon. Central Seat Allotment Board (CSAB) will conduct the special round counselling for admission to the B.Tech courses offered at Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Information Technology (NITs) and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) through JEE Main 2021 scores.

Round-1:

A. Exercising any one of the following options based on the outcome of the round

  • Seat Acceptance (FREEZE/SLIDE/FLOAT) & Institute Reporting (OR)
  • Surrender Allotted Seat and Participating in Next Round (OR)
  • Surrender Allotted Seat and NOT Participating in Next Round (OR)
  • Not allotted any seat at the end of special round-I, and not willing to participate in the Special Round– II

B. Online reporting: Seat Acceptance Fee payment/Document upload/Response by a candidate to query (if required)

CSAB Special Round 2021 Eligibility

All candidates who were eligible for JoSAA as per JEE Main 2021 Ranks will be eligible to participate in the CSAB special round as per the following eligibility norms:  

  • Candidates who have not registered in JoSAA till now but are eligible based on JEE Main 2021 ranks, will be eligible for participating in the CSAB special rounds for NITs/IIITs/ other GFTIs (except IITs) as per JoSAA 2021 / CSAB 2021 rules.
  • Those who participated in JoSAA and were allotted seats will also be eligible for participating in the Special Rounds for NITs/IIITs/ other GFTIs (except IITs).
  • Those who participated in JoSAA but did not get any seats will also be eligible for participating in the Special Rounds for NITs/IIITs/ other GFTIs (except IITs).
  • Candidates who participated in JoSAA and got a seat in an IIT will also be eligible for participating in the Special Rounds for NITs/IIITs/ other GFTIs (except IITs)

If a candidate fails to register for the special rounds from November 17 to 19, 2021, he/she will not be entertained for seat allotment. Candidates, who have opted“ Not to participate in the special round” at the time of reporting at the allotted institute, cannot register in CSAB special round.

CSAB Special Round 2021 Counselling Process

The entire CSAB special round counselling process can be broadly divided into seven steps. The steps involved in the seat allotment cum counselling process are detailed below:  

Step 1: Online registrations

All the eligible candidates are required to register online to participate in the CSAB special round counselling. During registration, candidates other than those who have reported at allotted Institute after the sixth JoSAA round can update their State of Eligibility, Nationality, Gender and Category/PwD (only from Beneficiary to non-Beneficiary Category).

Take a look at the following documents to be uploaded while filling the online application form for CSAB special round 2021:

  • Certificate of class X
  • Mark sheet of class XII
  • Category Certificate, if applicable (GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST)
  • PwD Certificate, if applicable
  • State of Eligibility Certificate, if the candidate has passed Class XII from outside India:
    • NRI candidates will upload their Indian Passport
    • OCI/PIO candidates will upload their OCI/PIO card

Step 2: Payment of application fee

After completing the online registrations for CSAB special round 2021, candidates are required to pay the special round participation fee using SBI MOPS. Take a look at the application fee for CSAB special round:

Candidates who got a seat allotted in NITs/IIITs/GFTIs in SC/ST category in JoSAA rounds; paid Seat Acceptance Fee of Rs 15,000/- But the seat was cancelled/withdrawn
OR
The candidate did not report at the allotted institute and the candidate’s category was converted to GEN at RC.

Candidates who got a seat allotted in NITs/ IIITs/GFTIs in JoSAA rounds and paid the Seat Acceptance Fee but didn’t report/cancelled/withdrew the allotted seat.
Seat Acceptance Fee paid by such candidates to JoSAA will be adjusted in the Special Round Participation Fee.
Rs 1,500/- Rs 1,500/-

Step 3: Online choice filling and locking

Candidates who have successfully registered for CSAB special round and paid the application fee can fill their choices for various vacant seats in NITs/IIITs/GFTIs if they are eligible as per their category. Fresh choices must be provided for the CSAB special round and the choices filled at the time of JoSAA counselling will not be considered.

Step 4: CSAB special round seat allotment

Seat allocation will be done, based on candidates' JEE Main score, for the seat left vacant after seven rounds of JoSAA counselling. After the last round (JoSAA seventh round) of JoSAA who did not participate in special rounds, all the admitted candidates will also be considered for category up-gradation against the same allotted choice.

Step 5: Freeze/Float/Slide seats

Candidates who have been allotted seats will have to exercise an option online for their seat allotment. They can freeze / float/ slide / withdraw the seats allocated to them. Take a look at the below options available to candidates after the seat allotment result is announced:

  1. Freeze: Candidates who are satisfied and accepted the seat allotment
  2. Float: Candidate who accepts the offered seat and indicates that if a higher preference in the given choices in any Institute is offered, he/she might consider
  3. Slide: Candidate who accepts the offered seat and indicates that if a higher preference in the given choices within the same Institute is offered, he/she might consider
  4. Surrender: Candidates who are willing to participate in the second round after they surrender the current allotment  or they withdraw the allotment

Step 6: Payment of seat acceptance fee

Candidates who have accepted the offer and freeze/float/slide the same can make the payment of the seat acceptance fee online. He/she is required to pay the CSAB special round seat acceptance fee using SBI MOPS. Take a look at the payable fee below:

Step 7: Reporting for seat confirmation   

Online document verification will be conducted for those candidates who have accepted the offer in the round 1 CSAB seat allotment and made the payment of the seat acceptance fee. The status of their verification will be reflected in the candidate’s login section. Physical reporting is not required for seat confirmation in round 1.

However, after the seat allotment result for round 2 is announced, shortlisted candidates will have to report at the allotted institute.
