Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   What is the TNEA supplementary counselling?
A:
The Tamil Nadu engineering admission supplementary counselling is conducted by TNEA after normal counseling. TNEA Supplementary Counseling process is done for those students who failed their 12th grade. This is done later so that these students can pass and attend admission counselling again. However, anyone can participate in this counselling. TNEA-qualified students can attend this counselling even after getting a college allocation and making a fee payment if they want to change colleges. This supplementary counselling process is done after the 4th round of TNEA counseling. Also, those students who had joined other courses, such as arts, but now want to change to engineering can attend this counselling to get into an engineering college. The procedure is similar to regular TNEA counseling, and you just have to register again after the date announcement.
Q:   I have uploaded my first graduate Certificate wrongly. Will it affect my TNEA counselling process?
A:
Hello Vishal, First graduate is not an essential Certificate to participate in TNEA counselling. If you are a first graduate and if you want reduction in the college fee, then only you can submit the first graduate. Otherwise, if you don't provide First graduate Certificate you won't get the fee reduction. You can also provide the first graduate Certificate during the second year in the respective college to get the fee reduction.
Q:   Will I be able to correct the mistakes in TNEA application form at the time of counselling?
A:

Candidates can edit the TNEA 2026 application form until the last date of registration. The candidate has to fill up the details in the application form and they can give their preference of TFC for online Certificates Verification. The entered details can be viewed using the login information. The applicant can edit his/her information if necessary. Verify the entries made and if all the details are found correct then submit the online application on or before the last date. Applicants will be provided with a PDF document on successful registration of application through TNEA Application Processing System.

Q:   When will the counselling dates be announced for TNEA?
A:

The TNEA 2026 dates for the counselling process will be announced in the coming days after AICTE approval.

While verifying the documents uploaded during TNEA 2026 registration, candidates have to follow the following steps:

Step 1: If the status shown is Incomplete, candidates have to scan all the required certificates as a single PDF file and upload it.

Step 2: After uploading, they must freeze the upload and log out.

Step 3: If the status shown is 'upload not completed and the upload status is not started', scan all the certificates as a single PDF file and upload.

Step 4: After uploading, freeze the upload and log out.

Step 5: If the status shown is 'In Progress', it indicates that certificate verification is in process.

Step 6: If the status shown is 'Completed successfully', then it indicates that Certificate verification is completed successfully for that application.

Only those candidates whose certificates are verified successfully are included in the TNEA rank list and become eligible to participate in the TNEA counselling process.

Note that in the TNEA 2026 counselling process, certificate verification is one of the most important steps. TNEA counselling process includes steps like: registration on the official website tneaonline.org, followed by online application filling and certificate uploading. Then the uploaded certificates are verified at the TFC. Thereafter, random numbers are allotted to the candidates whose documents are successfully verified. Next comes the publication of TNEA 2026 rank list & grievance redressal.

After the rank list is published, the online TNEA counselling rounds start, which include - Choice filling, seat allotment, seat confirmation and reporting at the allotted college.
