Some tips for students to get good marks always come in handy while preparing for competitive exams. These tips often help in getting admission in the top government or private colleges.
Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE) is one of the exams for admission in the top colleges of AKTU - Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (formerly known as UPTU). Every year around 2 lakh candidates appear for this exam and only hundreds are lucky enough to get good colleges.

The first question often comes in the mind of every student is “how to prepare for this exam?”The first and foremost thing to keep in mind is that not all the colleges in AKTU are good, so in case a student gets the cut-off then also there is less chance to get admission in a good college. Focus on preparing well in order to get under 10k rank to get admission in a good government college (if opting for private college then the rank could be up to 15k).
Always refer to blueprint or last year paper to get a clear understanding of the exam structure. While practising previous year exam papers, students would notice that the questions are mainly conceptual this means that if students want to score good then they should clarify their concepts. This would help in saving a lot of time during preparation. The main advantage that works in favour of a student is that there is no negative marking in UPSEE, so every student should focus on attempting maximum questions.
Try to focus more on the topics with more weightage. There will be an equal number of questions in all the subjects. Some of the chapters/ topics are of more weightage; these topics could be prioritised by students to enhance their score. The most scoring topics are:
- Physics: - Mechanics,
- Math: Algebra
- Chemistry: Organic
One month before the scheduled examination date, start taking the mock test, as this is the only thing that would help in enhancing the speed and would boost up the confidence. Analyse the mistakes in case there is a particular topic that needs attention, starts preparing the same without any second thought. Also, try to avoid such mistakes in the next mock test. One week before the date of exam, start solving previous year question papers, in these papers students might analyse a trend in the form of questions given like same/ similar questions are given in question papers. This enhances the confidence of all the students while preparing for entrance exams like UPSEE.
