The JEE Main answer key has details about the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam. It will have question IDs of all the questions that were asked in the exam along with the correct answers. The answer in JEE Main answer key will also be in the form of answer IDs. JEE Main answer key and response sheet are two different documens. No, candidates cannot raise objections in the final answer key of JEE Mains. The facility to raise objections is provided only in the provisional answer key. NTA has clearly specified that candidates cannot raise objections in the JEE Main final answer key. The result of candidates is prepared on the basis of JEE Main final answer key.

NTA prepares the JEE Main final answer key with the help of expert faculty members and subject matter experts. There is NO possibility of discrepancy in the final answer key of JEE Main. JEE Main response sheet is a document that contains the candidate's recorded answers to the questions attempted in the JEE Main exam. It is released along with the JEE Main answer key. Candidates can download their JEE Main 2025 response sheetthrough their respective logins on the official website.

The response sheet is important because it shows the actual answers submitted by the candidate in the exam, which can be compared with the official answer key to calculate their estimated score. It typically includes:

The cutoff for NITs vary for various branches and also category of students. Specialised branches like computer Science and electronics engineering has higher cutoff in comparison to other branches. Yes, candidates scoring less than JEE Main cutoff can participate in JEE Main counselling. Candidates must note that JEE Main cutoff is meant to shortlist candidates for appearing in JEE Advanced. The admission of candidates in NITs and other particpating institutes is based on All India Rank of candidates in JEE Mains.

JEE Main cutoff is released for different cateories which include

• Unreserved (Open category)
• Reserved Category
  • Gen-EWS
  • OBC-NCL
  • SC
  • ST
  • PwD

Candidates belong to any of the reserve category need to score above than the category cutoff to be eligible for JEE Advanced.

JEE Main numerical value questions have the following marking scheme

• Correct Answer: +4 Marks
• Incorrect Answer: -1 Marks
• Not attempted: 0 Marks

Numerical value questions are the questions for which the answer is a numerical value (integer).

Yes, all candidates of the shift in which a questions is dropped are awarded full marks (+4) irrespective of whether the candidate has attempted the question of not.  

No marks will be deducted or awarded for unattempted questions. Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. 

The scores obtained through JEE Main answer key is marks out of 300. However, the result of JEE Mains is announced in percentile and not marks. Candidates can however get an idea of their percentile using JEE Mains marks vs percentile analysis.

To calculate the score, candidates will need to use the answer key and their candidate response sheet.
