Overview

VITMEE Counselling 2026: Vellore Institute of Technology started counselling. The counselling link is available at official website-admissions.vit.ac.in. Qualified students will receive an email or SMS at their registered email ID and mobile number to attend VITMEE counselling and document verification. The VITMEE result is now available. The mode of counselling is online and should be completed within the specified dates.

During counselling process, candidates will have to enter their choice preferences. Candidates who have been shortlisted in VITMEE have to participate in counselling based on their rank. 

In counselling session, students can provide options for specific qualification, campus, fees, category, programmes, etc. Candidates must note that VITMEE 2026 counselling is common for all VIT Group of Institutions. VITMEE Counselling: Important Points to Remember

Candidates participating in VITMEE counselling must follow the important details below -

  • The counselling is done online and is common for all VIT Campus (Chennai, Vellore, AP, and Bhopal campuses)
  • The VITMEE counselling 2026 is mainly conducted in one phase, however, multiple rounds may take place depending on seat availability.
  • To be eligible for counselling and seat allotment process of VITMEE, students have to meet the eligibility.
  • The authorities will release VITMEE admission list with names of qualified candidates.
  • Document verification process is the final process of VITMEE 2026 counselling.
  • The exam authorities will release the admission merit list in which the names of the qualified candidates will be mentioned.  
  • Candidates need to bring their original documents on the counselling day.  

The VITMEE counselling is done for MTech/MCA/M.Des/MSc (AI & ML) and MSc (Data Science) programmes admission. Selection will be based on the following -

  • Candidates must have a minimum academic record of 60% or equivalent in 10th/12th/Diploma and qualifying degree
  • Must have qualified VITMEE 2026. Candidates can check their VITMEE result here.
  • Attend online counselling, followed by seat allotment.

The counselling is the last stage of Vellore Institute of Technology Master's Entrance Examination admission. Candidates who have qualified for VITMEE ae eligible to participate in counselling process, which can be checked below-

  • After the result declaration, the authorities release VITMEE merit list/cutoff rank
  • Candidates whose names appear on merit list will be informed for counselling on their registered email ID and contact number.
  • During counselling, students will have to provide their choice preferences.
  • Shortlisted candidates can participate in online counselling based on their ranking. They can provide their options for specific academic qualifications, eligibility, qualifications, category of fees, etc. Final allotment of seat will be based on the rank obtained and preference given. 
  • After that, VIT will verify all details and eligibility of the candidates after completing the fee payment. 
  • The VIT University will inform the candidates regarding their VITMEE counselling date and venue.
  • Candidates with GATE scores can appear directly in the counselling session with their scorecard. 
  • Candidates must pay counselling fee in advance.  
  • Candidates are required to carry their original documents for counselling verification process.  
  • After verification, the eligible candidates are allowed to participate in counselling. 
  • After this, candidates will be allotted seats, and admission allotment letters will be provided.  
  • Once the exam authority has allotted the seat to the candidate, it cannot be changed further. 
  • Candidates must note that the VITMEE counselling will be held in one phase only. The rank and choice entry will be available in the counselling portal. Once the seat is allotted the provisional admission letter will be available in portal.

Documents Required at the Time of VITMEE Counselling 2026

Selected candidates must carry the following documents while reporting to the college for VITMEE counselling-

  • X and XII Std. Marks statement.   
  • Mark Sheets of all semesters/ years of the qualifying examination up to pre-final / final year as applicable.  
  • Qualifying Degree /Provisional Certificate (If already received).    
  • Transfer/Migration/College Leaving Certificate obtained from the Institute last studied. (If already received) (Original).   
  • Valid GATE Score Card (If available).   
  • Aadhaar Card.  
  • Service Certificate issued by the Employer. (For sponsored candidates - for M.Tech programmes only) Community Certificate (only for SC/ST categories).   
  • Conduct Certificate (Original).  
  • Nativity Certificate (for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Northeastern States).   
  • Student Profile (https://vtop.vit.ac.in/studentprofile/).   
  • Physical Fitness Certificate Admission letter and a photocopy of the programme fee receipt.   
  • Two copies of recent passport size colour photograph.   
  • An undertaking for good conduct and behavior in a prescribed form (to be issued by the University/Institute at the time of admission).   
  • Affidavit to be signed separately by the student parent in Rs.20/- Non-Judicial Stamp Paper and same has to be attested by Notary Public. 

Note:

  • University/Registration ID will be generated for candidates who have submitted the above documents. 
  • A caution deposit fee of INR 3000 must be paid through netbanking/credit card/debit card.
  • GATE-qualified candidates will be offered scholarships as AICTE Norms.

VITMEE 2026 Result

Vellore Institute of Technology declared VITMEE result in form of rank. Candidates can access the result link on its official website - admissions.vit.ac.in. Candidates who have appeared for the exam will be able to access VITMEE MTech rank card. To download, candidates have to provide their application number and password. Only qualified students are eligible for VITMEE 2026 counselling and interview process.

Vellore Institute of Technology release VITMEE seat allotment result based on scores secured in VITMEE. Admissions to M.Tech courses are also done based on GATE score. Counselling process of VITMEE is ongoing.

VITMEE is the entrance exam conducted for M.Tech programme admission and VITEEE is conducted for admission to BTech programmes. However, the selection and counselling process remains to be the same.

For M.Tech CSE at VIT Vellore campus, the safe rank is usually between 500 -700 under category 1. For CSE specialisations, the safe rank is upto 5000 under category 1.

The selection for VITMEE is done simply based on rank obtained in the exam. The ranking is classified into five categories that inclines with tuition fees. Candidates with low rank have to pay minimum fee. As the rank gets higher, the tuition fee also increase.
