The AILET exam by National Law University Delhi is scheduled to be held on December 14, 2025. Candidates looking to appear in the exam must focus on each section of the exam. But one of the major sections and high-scoring sections of AILET is English. This section is designed to assess vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension skills. Candidates will be asked around 50 questions in English out of the total of 150 questions in the exam. Q:   Will Section A and Section B in the question paper of AILET LLM, be provided together?
A: 

Candidates must note that the AILET LLM 2027 Exam pattern was changed last year. The main subjects of AILET LLM 2027 question paper will be as under: Different branches of law (Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Law of Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, Labour & Industrial Law).

The AILET 2027 LLM syllabus will have 100 MCQ questions pertaining to different areas of law. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect attempt. 

Q:   What is the exam pattern of AILET for BA LLB course?

The exam pattern of AILET BA LLB is expected to be same as previous years. The BA LLB course exam pattern for AILET will be as under:

AILET question papers for BA LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD courses have different structures therefore, candidates should check the exam pattern for their respective courses before taking the exam. Check details about the exam pattern of AILET including test medium, timings, and sectional weightage. 

Q:   What is the marking scheme of AILET for BA LLB?
A: 

The marking scheme for AILET will be as under-

  • +1 mark each correct answer 
  • -0.25 marks for each incorrect attempt. 
  • No marks will be awarded or deducted for questions not attempted

AILET Preparation 2026 for English Language Syllabus

The following are the highlights for the English Language section.

  • This section includes passages of around 500 words each
  • The section will carry around five passages.
  • Make a synopsis of the passage.
  • Make conclusions and a summary based on the passage.
  • Passages will be asked from contemporary or historically significant sources of both fictional and non-fictional writing.
  • You should not worry if the topics of the passage include different technical and scientific matters, as you do not need to have any prior knowledge of the topics to understand the passage.
  • The difficulty level of the question will be for Class 12.

AILET English Preparation Tips- Vocabulary, Grammar, and Comprehension

In the English Section of the AILET exam, there are different types of questions asked. For example, questions from vocabulary (synonym, antonyms, idioms, spell check, etc), General grammatical questions, and passages. To prepare them:

  • For Vocabulary, canidates are required to practice daily, revise again and again, solve quizzes, and make sentences using the new words they learn every day.
  • For Grammar questions, you have to give time, and use the best book; some book recommendations are given below.
  • In Comprehension, passages come from the latest legal advancements. So, you have to be aware of the latest updates of the legal world, read a daily newspaper, and take mock test as many as you can.

Those preparing for AILET Exam must add solving the sample papers as part of their preparation journey. This will help them to not only improve their speed but also get use to of the pattern.

Q:   Is there negative marking in AILET Exam?
A: 

Candidates must note that the AILET Exam 2027 has negative marking too. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark. Candidates must be very careful while attempting the questions paper of AILET 2027. Candidates are advised to solve mock tests and previous years' question papers to get hand on things. Candidates must keep track of time while practicing for AILET 2027 exam.

The NLU Delhi has not released any information regarding the revision of AILET Exam Pattern yet. Candidates must note that all details about the AILET Exam 2027 will be published in the notification.

Preparation Tips for AILET Exam

To crack the exam, follow the right AILET preparation tips as mentioned below,

  • Read Newspaper: Candidates must read a newspaper daily. Read not just the English portion, but also the general knowledge/current affairs section. Also, cover the opinion section in the newspaper.
  • Solve AILET Sample papers: Make sure you practice each type of question. Do not ignore a question because you feel that you can answer it on the exam day. 
    Solve questions from the previous year get an idea about the whole AILET exam pattern, and how much time it takes you to solve. This will also help you to know your own problem areas to work on.
  • Read: Apart from reading the newspaper, make sure you inculcate a reading habit. If you have the habit, then you will be able to shorten the amount of time it takes to read a question and answer it. To start with, you can read any novel of your choice during your free time. 
  • Time table: Make a plan or schedule for an everyday study plan. You should have a plan that what you want to prepare on the weekdays and what you wish to revise on the weekends, as recommended by AILET toppers in the past.
