AILET Preparation 2026 for English Language Syllabus
The following are the highlights for the English Language section.
- This section includes passages of around 500 words each.
- The section will carry around five passages.
- Make a synopsis of the passage.
- Make conclusions and a summary based on the passage.
- Passages will be asked from contemporary or historically significant sources of both fictional and non-fictional writing.
- You should not worry if the topics of the passage include different technical and scientific matters, as you do not need to have any prior knowledge of the topics to understand the passage.

In the English Section of the AILET exam, there are different types of questions asked. For example, questions from vocabulary (synonym, antonyms, idioms, spell check, etc), General grammatical questions, and passages. To prepare them:
- For Vocabulary, canidates are required to practice daily, revise again and again, solve quizzes, and make sentences using the new words they learn every day.
- For Grammar questions, you have to give time, and use the best book; some book recommendations are given below.
- In Comprehension, passages come from the latest legal advancements. So, you have to be aware of the latest updates of the legal world, read a daily newspaper, and take mock test as many as you can.

In the last year's AILET question paper for UG course, GK questions were prominently related to static GK. The number of current affairs-related questions was lower. Questions were mainly related to law field and Economics. These questions were related to topics, such as Supreme Court of India, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
A large number of questions in the section were based on topics related to international relations, such as international alliances, agreements and G20 Summit.
Other main topics covered in the GK section of the previous year's AILET question paper were awards, sports, geography of India and books and authors.

To crack the exam, follow the right AILET preparation tips as mentioned below,
- Read Newspaper: Candidates must read a newspaper daily. Read not just the English portion, but also the general knowledge/current affairs section. Also, cover the opinion section in the newspaper.
- Solve AILET Sample papers: Make sure you practice each type of question. Do not ignore a question because you feel that you can answer it on the exam day.
Solve questions from the previous year get an idea about the whole AILET exam pattern, and how much time it takes you to solve. This will also help you to know your own problem areas to work on. - Read: Apart from reading the newspaper, make sure you inculcate a reading habit. If you have the habit, then you will be able to shorten the amount of time it takes to read a question and answer it. To start with, you can read any novel of your choice during your free time.
