Around 19,000+ candidates are registered for the BA LLB (Hons.) programme, while nearly 2,600+ candidates may have applied for the AILET PG 2026.

The National Law University (NLU), Delhi, conducted the AILET 2026 exam on December 14, 2025. The exam was held in offline mode across multiple cities in pen-and-paper mode. The official data regarding registrations and attendance has released along with the AILET Result 2026. A total of 23,960 candidates have registered for the BA LLB (Hons.) programme, while nearly 3,257 candidates have applied for the AILET PG.

Based on past trends, the number of candidates appearing for the exam is usually close to the number of registrations, as AILET records a consistently high number of students appearing for the exam. As per the official data of AILET 2026, a total of 22,532 BA LLB aspirants and 2,787 postgraduate candidates have appeared for AILET 2026.

Q:   What are the things to carry to AILET exam centre 2027?
A: 

On the day of the exam, candidates must carry the following documents and items to the AILET centre:

  • It is a mandatory document to be carried to the test centre; candidates must carry their admit card as issued to them. Candidates without a valid admit card on the day of the exam will not be allowed to take it.
  • Along with the admit card, candidates must also carry an original photo ID proof issued by the Government of India. Documents that can be presented as ID proof include PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, Aadhaar Card, and Ration Card. 
  • Candidates should carry an attested passport-size photograph  (the same as uploaded at the time of filling the application form). 
  • Since the AILET is an offline exam, candidates must carry at least two good-quality ball-point pens of blue or black ink and an HB pencil to the test centre.
  • The certificate is mandatory for candidates who have applied under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category.

Q:   When will AILET 2026 first merit list be released?

The AILET first merit was released on the National Law University Delhi website on January 8.

Q:   How many times AILET is conducted?
A: 

AILET is now conducted once in a year, and in month of December. The exam authority, National Law University, Delhi always conducted AILET once in a year, except for year 2022, when the exam was held twice I. e. once in June and then in December. However, the exam authority also notified that it's one time modification, and from AILET 2024 onwards, the exam will be held once in a year. Q:   How will I know about the AILET exam centre allotted to me?
A: 

AILET exam centre 2027 will be allotted along with the admit card. Candidates are advised to check the admit card to know about the exam centre and other crucial details. Apart from name and address of allotted AILET exam centre, the admit card comprises details such as exam date, timing, exam day guidelines etc. Date for admit card release is published along with the information brochure on the official website. Candidates have to download the admit card for AILET after logging and providing details such as application ID, password and others.

AILET is important because it is the only entrance exam that law aspirants can qualify and be eligible for most prominent National Law University in India; i.e. NLU Delhi. It is also one of the most competitive law entrance exams for admission to NLU Delhi, as it doesn't accept CLAT score. Apart from this, many Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs) in India accept AILET LL. M. scores for the recruitment of candidates.

The AILET Objection Window will open in December 2027. Candidates will be able to raise objections to the AILET Answer Key within a timeline of 2 days. Once the objections are received, the NLU Delhi will publish the AILET Final Answer Key. Based on that, the AILET Result will be announced.
