KLEE Exam Eligibility

KLEE Exam Eligibility

The Kerala Law Entrance Examination (KLEE) is the gateway to law colleges in Kerala. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) Kerala conducts it every year for admission to the 3-year LLB and 5-year integrated LLB programmes. Four government law colleges and a number of self-financing colleges take admissions through it.
Meeting the eligibility conditions matters as much as the score. A candidate who clears the exam but misses a condition can lose the seat at the admission stage. This guide covers the criteria for both courses, based on the most recent cycle (KLEE 2026) and preparing the candidates for the KLEE exam 2027.
A quick note on timing: KLEE 2026 was held online on June 28, 2026, and applications closed on June 17 after an extension. CEE Kerala has not yet published a notification for the next cycle, so the criteria below are the latest available. Conditions can change, so check the new notification when it is out.

The Klee 2027 exam is expected to take place online in June as per the previous cycle. Please keep checking website for the latest updates.

KLEE eligibility for 3-year LLB

Find below the detailed information of the 3 year LLB eligibility.

Educational qualification: You need a graduation degree from a recognised university. The stream does not matter. Arts, science, commerce, engineering and management graduates are all eligible.
Minimum marks: The aggregate required in the degree is 45% for General candidates, 42% for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) and differently abled candidates, and 40% for SC/ST candidates. Marks are not rounded off to the next whole number, so 44.8% will not count as 45%.
Age limit: There is no lower age limit, and graduates of any age can apply. The upper limit depends on whatever the Supreme Court of India finally decides.
Final-year students: Students appearing for their final degree exams can apply. They must show their degree mark sheets and provisional or pass certificate at the time of admission.

  • Secondary school leaving certificate
  • Passport issued by the Government of India
  • Certificate from a village officer or other competent authority

Any one of these documents proves Kerala nativity:

  • Your secondary school leaving certificate showing Kerala as the place of birth
  • The school leaving certificate of either parent showing Kerala as the place of birth
  • Your passport or either parent's passport
  • Birth certificate
  • Certificate from a village officer or other competent authority

Qualifying marks in the Klee Exam

Meeting the educational criteria only makes a candidate eligible to sit the test. KLEE exam also has a minimum score to be ranked. It is 10% of the total marks for General and SEBC candidates and 5% for SC/ST. The duration of the exam is two hours.

Application details from the last cycle

The application was entirely online on the CEE Kerala website (cee.kerala.gov.in). The fee paid by General and SEBC candidates is around Rs 900 to Rs 950, and SC, ST and PwD candidates will pay Rs 450. Payment could be made by net banking, debit card or credit card. Applicants will have to upload their certificates during registration.

Mistakes that cost candidates their seats

There are some mistakes often done by the candidates that cost their seats and they fail to take admission in the colleges.

  • Assuming marks get rounded up
  • Uploading the wrong certificate, or one that does not show the place of birth
  • Claiming reservation without Kerala nativity proof
  • Checking eligibility only on the last day of registration
  • Not confirming that their university is recognised
