CEETA PG 2026: Anna University, Chennai will start CEETA PG 2026 admission process soon. Registrations is expected to start in January third/fourth week. To apply for CEETA candidates have to register at tancet.anna.univ and appear for entrance test, which is conducted offline for two hours. CEETA PG is a state-level entrance exam to offer admissions to postgraduate programmes. Anna University, Chennai is responsible to conduct CEETA exam. Admission process is done at the CEETA candidate portal, where applicants have to register, attempt exam, get qualified, and participate in counselling. Q:   Are CEETA PG and TANCET the same examination?
A: 

The TANCET examination is conducted to offer admission to postgraduate business programs, such as MBA and computer application programs, such as MCA. Qualifying candidates can apply at participating institutions in Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, CEETA PG is a postgraduate entrance examination conducted to offer admissions to postgraduate engineering, architecture, and planning programs, such as M.Tech, M.Arch, and M.Plan.

Q:   What is CEETA PG exam?
A: 

CEETA PG stands for Common Engineering Entrance Test for Admission Postgraduate, a competitive examination for admission to ME, MTech, MArch, and MPlan programmes. Until 2022, the admissions were based on TANCET. From 2023, the admissions for ME, MTech, MArch, and MPlan programmes in Anna University, Annamalai University and other government colleges in Tamil Nadu are based on CEETA PG score.

Candidates, after qualifying for CEETA PG, can get admission in the following universities and institutes -

  • University Departments of Anna University, Chennai-25, Anna University Regional Campuses and University Colleges of Engineering.

  • Government & Government Aided Engineering Colleges 

  • Technical Institutions funded by the Central Government affiliated with Anna University

CEETA PG 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Anna University will mention about CEETA PG 2026 eligibility criteria in information brochure. Candidates who want to apply for CEETA must check eligibility first. The criteria for MTech, ME, MPlan, and MArch can be checked below, as per last year -

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum score of 50% (General category) or 45% (reserved categories) - BE/BTech/BArch or BPharm or Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts 
  • 10 + 2 + AMIE (with 2 years of experience)   
  • 10 + 3-year diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE (with 2 years experience)   
  • Candidates in their final year/semester of the degree courses during their academic year, except for courses offered by a Professional Institution like AMIE, can apply for CEETA PG 2026.   
  • GATE candidates who want admission under CEET PG must appear for CEETA PG to be considered for admission.   
  • Candidates with a valid GATE score in 2024, 2025, or 2026 with qualifying marks for assistantship in XE (Engineering Science) or XL (Life Science) papers are eligible to appear for CEETA PG 2026.   
  • Candidates from other states may also be eligible to appear for the entrance test, subject to the conditions set by the admitting authority/university.

Q:   What are the CEETA PG eligibility criteria for admission to the architecture program?
A: 

To be eligible for CEETA PG (M.Arch) programs, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in architecture (B.Arch) with a minimum qualifying mark of 50% (for the general category) and 45% for the reserved category from a recognised university or institute. Besides that, candidates qualified as AIIA (Associateship Examination of the Indian Institute of Architects) with valid registration with the Council of Architecture are also eligible for CEETA PG admission.

CEETA PG 2026 Application Form

CEETA PG 2026 application form is expected to release in January. Registration process will take place online and will be available for a limited period of time. While filling CEETA exam application form, candidates must provide correct information and submit it before due date. If any candidate want to edit or make changes in their form, then they can do it during correction facility. Anna University will activate CEETA correction window 2026 in last week of Feb or March. Candidates must keep all their documents ready before applying.

CEETA PG 2026 Exam Pattern

Anna University conducts CEETA exam offline in March. Candidates appearing for exam must go through marking pattern carefully. Students will be provided OMR sheet to record their responses during exam. The total time duration of CEETA entrance test is 2 hours for 100 marks.

CEETA 2026 question paper is divided into three parts -

  • Part I- Engineering Mathematics
  • Part II - Basic Engineering and Sciences
  • Part III- Branch-specific

NOTE: Part I and II are compulsory and in Part III, candidates have to answer section (subject-specific) that was mentioned during registration. If a candidate attempt question from another section, then marks will not be evaluated.

Q:   Is there a negative marking in CEETA PG?
A: 

There is negative marking in CEETA PG. For incorrect answers, the candidates will lose 1/3 mark. Marks will not be deducted for the questions left unanswered. Multiple shading will be considered as a wrong answer and a 1/3 mark will be reduced. Hence, candidates have to be very carefull while marking their answers. Since, CEETA PG has negative marking, students are advised to avoid guesswork and only answer the questions they are confident about.

CEETA PG 2026 Admit Card

CEETA PG 2026 admit card will be released a few days before exam at Anna University official website. Candidates who have registered for entrance test will be able download their hall ticket. Credentials required to download CEETA hall ticket are registration ID and password. 

In case, if any applicant loose their admit card, then they can obtain it by paying INR 354 (INR 300 + 18% GST) in form of demand draft with a written request to Secretary, Anna University, Chennai- 600025 mentioning registration number and exam centre.
