IIT Bhilai held its third and fourth joint convocation, awarding degrees to 396 graduates. The event was graced by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, as the chief guest.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai hosted its third and fourth joint convocation for the 2023 and 2024 batches at the Nalanda Hall on campus. The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced the ceremony as the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. A total of 396 students received degrees, including 13 PhDs, 11 MScs, 27 MTechs, 13 BTech (Honours), and 123 BTechs from the 2023 batch, while the 2024 batch comprised 8 PhDs, 20 MScs, 19 MTechs, 12 BTech (Honours), and 150 BTechs.

In her address, the President highlighted the invaluable contributions of IITians to both national and global progress, praising their pioneering thinking, experimental mindset, innovative approach, and vision. She noted that by leading major global companies, they are shaping the 21st-century world through their technical and analytical expertise. Many IIT alumni have embraced entrepreneurship, creating new jobs and advancing India's digital transformation and startup culture.

The President said that in the field of industry, it is said, "No risk, no gain." In other words, success in self-employment cannot be achieved with an attitude of risk aversion. She expressed confidence that graduating students would continue to move forward with their risk appetite, develop new technologies, and work towards making the world a better place.

The President said that IIT Bhilai is prioritising agri-tech, health-tech, and fintech advancements. She noted the institute’s collaboration with AIIMS Raipur in healthcare to develop mobile apps that enable villagers to access medical assistance from home. Additionally, IIT Bhilai’s partnership with Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, is providing farmers with tech solutions to optimize resource use and improve guidance.
