CLAT Counselling Registration (CLOSED) 2025: Fees, Admission Process for Top NLUs & Non NLUs and Live Updates

In case a candidate fails to attend the CLAT Counselling as per the schedule then they won't be given any more chances and wait for CLAT 2026 Admission Process

The Consortium of NLUs has announced that it will conduct only three counseling rounds this year. Though no specific reason has been defined. It must be noted that until last year the CLAT Counselling was held for five rounds.

The Consortium will release the CLAT 2025 First Allotment List on May 26, 2025. Candidates must note that the first merit list of CLAT 2025 will be released online only. 

The Consortium has closed the registration process for CLAT 2025 Counselling today, i.e. May 21, 2025 at 5 pm. It must be noted that the consortium will allow only those candidates to appear in CLAT Counselling who have completed the CLAT Counselling Registration before the deadline. 

The Consortium of NLUs will close the CLAT 2025 Counselling Registration Process soon. Candidates who have not completed their registration yet must do so before 5 pm.

Note: In addition to the above seats Five Seats are earmarked for Foreign Nationals for direct admission without appearing in the CLAT examination, as informed the NLIU Bhopal.

Note:

• A total of 5% of the total intake; i.e. 2 seats in Business law, 1 seat in Human Rights are reserved horizontally for PwD Candidates.
• Around 25% of total seats in each vertical category, i.e. maximum of 13 students are admitted under horizontal preference of ‘Karnataka Students’

Apart from the above categories, each NLU has its state domicile quota reserved horizontally in all above categories. The percentage of state domicile reservation is different for all participating NLUs, which is confirmed only at the time of admission and seat allotment process every year. 

Candidates must note that the last day to pay CLAT 2025 Counselling Registration Fee  is on or before May 21, 2025 (5 pm).

Candidates can follow the simple steps given below to register for the CLAT Counselling Process 2025:

• Login to your CLAT account.
• Click the ‘Make Payment’ button; (the Make Payment button will be visible only if you have been selected for the Admissions Counselling Process).
• Complete the payment of the Counselling Registration Fee;
• Wait till you see a ‘Payment Successful’ message before logging out;
• Candidates are advised not to wait till the last minute to make payments to avoid payment-related issues

General Category: INR 30,000

ST/ SC/ OBC/ BC/ EWS/ PWD: INR 20,000

Candidates will have to mandatorily provide their bank account information, which will be used to issue refunds (if any). Please provide valid bank account information which will be active until the refund process is completed.

A candidate who selects the Freeze Option in the First or Second or Third round of counselling must pay the remaining University Fee (after adjusting the Counselling Registration Fee and Confirmation Fee) to the NLU concerned by June 14, 2025, the Consortium announced.

An eligible candidate who has been allotted a seat as per their indicated NLU preferences will be required to pay a non-refundable Confirmation Fee of INR. 20,000/- (Rupees Twenty thousand only) prior to selecting a ‘Freeze’ or ‘Float’
option in the First, Second and Third rounds of counselling. A candidate needs to pay the Confirmation Fee only once in the entire Admissions and Counselling Process. 

If any candidate:

• Is not allotted a seat at the end of the Third round of the Admissions Counselling Process by the Consortium
• Has not chosen the Freeze or Float option and Exit from the Counselling Process, the Counselling Registration Fee will be refunded in full. 
• Where a candidate has been allocated a seat and has chosen a Float or Freeze option till the third round, and then subsequently chooses to Exit or fails to complete their admission at the chosen NLU by paying their fees then their Counselling Registration Fee will be refunded in full if the Exit option is exercised before 1:00 P.M. on June 9, 2025, after a deduction of INR 5,000/- (Rupees Five thousand only), if exercised after 1:00 P.M. on June 9, 2025.  
• If a candidate is found ineligible by an NLU based upon the verification of documents/information provided at any round, an amount of INR 5,000/- (Rupees Five thousand only) will be deducted and the remaining Counselling Registration Fee will be refunded.  If any candidate is exercised ‘Freeze’ option and taken admission at the allocated NLU in any of the rounds, but withdrawn the admission subsequently after deadline of June 9, 2025, an amount of INR 5000/- (Rupees Five thousand only) will be deducted and also confirmation fees will be forfeited.   

The Consortium of NLUs will close the CLAT 2025 Counselling today; i.e. May 21, 2025 by 5 pm.

Each candidate who has been allotted a seat at any NLU may exercise any of the ‘Freeze’, ‘Float’, or ‘Exit’ options in a counselling round based on the conditions set out below:

Freeze option: If the candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat, accepts it, and is not interested in participating in further rounds of seat allocation/ counselling, they may ‘Freeze’ the seat allocation.  

Float option: If the candidate has not been allotted their first preference NLU and chooses to leave ‘open’ the possibility of getting a higher preference NLU seat they may choose the ‘Float’ Option. 

Exit option: If at any time after completing the Registration Process, a candidate does not want to participate in the Counselling Process, they may choose to ‘Exit’ the Admissions Counselling Process. If a candidate has chosen a Float or Freeze Option prior to the Exit option, the seat allocated to them will be reallocated to some other candidate and the Confirmation Fee will be forfeited. No candidate will be allotted a seat after choosing the Exit option.   

Candidates will be receiving invitations for the counselling process via email on their registered email address and SMS at the registered phone number.

• Complete the payment of the Counselling Registration Fee;   Click the ‘Make Payment’ button (the Make Payment button will be visible only if you have been selected for the Admissions Counselling Process).
• Pay the Counselling Registration Fee by 5:00 PM on May 21, 2025 as set out below:  Candidates from the General Category: INR.30,000/- (Rupees Thirty thousand only) Candidates from the ST/ SC/ OBC/ BC/ EWS/ PWD categories are required to pay INR 20,000/- (Rupees Twenty thousand only)
• Wait till you see a ‘Payment Successful’ message
• Payments can only be made online after logging in to the CLAT 2025 portal through the Consortium website
• The Counselling Registration Fee for the admissions counselling process is refundable and kindly refer to Para 4 below for details on the refund of the Counselling Registration Fee
• Candidates are advised not to wait till the last minute to make payments to avoid payment-related issues
• Any requests to make the payment after the last date for registration, i.e., 5:00 PM on May 21, 2025, shall not be considered
• The Consortium will not be responsible for any issues relating to the payments.
• Only candidates who have completed the registration process for the Admissions Counselling Process will be considered for the allotment of seats. Registration for the Admissions Counselling Process does not guarantee admission at the member NLUs in any manner. 

An eligible candidate who has been allotted a seat as per their indicated NLU preferences will be required to pay a non-refundable Confirmation Fee of INR. 20,000/- (Rupees Twenty thousand only) before selecting a ‘Freeze’ or ‘Float’

A candidate who selects the Freeze Option in the First or Second or Third round of counselling must pay the remaining University Fee (after adjusting the Counselling Registration Fee and Confirmation Fee) to the NLU concerned by June 27, 2025 the Consortium announced.

Candidates can register for the CLAT Counselling Process 2024 by following the easy steps listed below:

• Open your CLAT account and log in.
•  Click "Make Payment." This button will only appear if you have been chosen to participate in the Admissions Counselling Process.
•  Prior to logging out, wait till you see the message "Payment Successful."
•  In order to prevent payment-related problems, candidates are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to make payments;

Candidates who have not registered for the CLAT 2025 Counselling must note that tomorrow is the last date and they must ensure that they pay the CLAT 2025 Counselling Fees before the deadline.

Along with the CLAT 2025 Revised Result, the Consortium has also released the Revised CLAT 2025 Counselling Dates. Earlier, the consortium was supposed to publish the CLAT 2025 First Merit List on December 21, 2025. However, with legal proceeding the same was delayed. Now, the CLAT First Merit List 2025 will be announced on May 26, 2025. The CLAT Counselling Process 2025 will end with three rounds this year.

The Consortium will close the CLAT 2025 Counselling Registration tomorrow, i.e, May 21, 2025. The CLAT 2025 First Merit List will be announced on May 26, 2025.

Candidates must complete the NLU admissions process in order to guarantee their seat when the CLAT seat allocation 2024 is complete.  The following procedures are part of the admissions process for 24 NLUs:

 Admission cost: In order to confirm their admission, all candidates who have been assigned seats must pay the admission cost.

 Verification of Documents: After that, candidates must turn in their original paperwork for validation. 

 Seat Confirmation: Following the first two steps, candidates must confirm their seats by providing supporting documentation and paying the remaining expenses.

An essential document for the admissions and counselling process is the CLAT 2025 admit card.  It is necessary for document verification at the designated NLU and acts as evidence of a candidate's attendance at the exam.  Important information including the candidate's name, roll number, and exam location are included on the admit card to help confirm their identification.  It serves as a reference document in the event of inconsistencies.  Printed copies are required for admissions and counselling.  The admissions process can be hampered without it.  Maintain several copies at all times for security and future use.

By taking the actions listed below, candidates can view the NLU-specific CLAT merit list:

 Candidates should be aware that their names must appear on the merit list in order for them to be eligible to attend CLAT Counselling 2025.  Online counselling will be used for CLAT counselling.  To be admitted to one of the nation's NLUs, candidates must attend the counselling.

Candidates must complete the NLU admissions process in order to guarantee their seat when the CLAT seat allocation 2024 is complete.  The following procedures are part of the admissions process for 24 NLUs:

Candidates who have scored within a certain range—typically covering around five times the total number of seats available across all participating NLUs—are included on the invite list.  With roughly 3,864 UG and 1,551 PG seats available, this corresponds to about 20,000 candidates for UG programs and about 8,000 for PG programs for CLAT 2025.

CLAT 2025 Counselling process is completely online. The Consortium will conduct CLAT Admission Process 2025 completely online. Only those candidates who have completed CLAT Counselling Registration 2025 will be allowed to appear in the counselling rounds.

The total number of seats across the BA LLB (Hons.), BBA LLB (Hons.), and LLM programs has increased to 200.

Once the CLAT seat allotment 2025 is over, candidates will have to finish the NLU admission process to secure their seat. The admission process for 24 NLUs involves following steps:

Admission Fee: All those candidates who have been allotted seats have to pay the admission fee to confirm their admission.

Document Verification: Candidates will then have to submit their original documents for verification. 

Seat Confirmation: Only after the above two processes, candidates need to confirm their seats by submitting documents and pay rest of the fees

The CLAT Counselling 2025 will be done in three rounds this year. The reason for reducing the number of rounds has not been defined yet.

The CLAT 2025 Seat Intake has not been changed, however, CLAT 2025 reservation criteria has been revised for NLIU Bhopal. CLAT has 2522 seats for undergraduate courses. These seats have been divided as per the candidate's category.

The CLAT 2025 Counselling Fees is INR 30,000 for general/OBC category, and INR 20,000, for SC/ST/OBC/BC/EWS/PWD categories. The CLAT counselling fee can only be paid in online mode on the official website of the law entrance exam. The counselling fee candidate need to pay as a token amount against their allotted seat to secure it.

CLAT First Merit List 2025 will be released on May 26, 2025. Only those candidates who have registered for CLAT Counselling will be eligible to appear.

The counselling process of CLAT 2025 is a centralised seat allotment process for all the participating National Law Universities (NLUs). Therefore, the counselling is a standardized process as under:

Step 1: Candidates who appeared for CLAT 2025 and secured above the minimum cutoff marks will be required to register for the centralized counselling process once the CLAT Consortium opens the window.

Step 2: For registration, candidates will be required to login into their account, and fill their preferences and upload their documents and get it verified.

Step 3: The counselling authority publishes a merit list for each round with the seat allotment results, and candidates who are listed can reserve/ secure their seat by completing admission formalities such as 'Freeze' and pay the admission fee as per their category.

Step 4: Candidates who do like their seat allotment can apply for an upgrade by selecting the float option. And those who wish to exit the counselling process can do so by selecting ethe xit option.

Step 5: Candidates who successfully secure the seat will be issued a provisional admission letter and a schedule for joining the college.

Until the CLAT admissions process is complete, candidates must maintain a copy of their CLAT Admit Card securely.  On the day of the exam, it is imperative that the admit card be brought to the testing location.  Applicants were not permitted to take the test if they did not have their admit card with them.   Even after the exam is finished, candidates should maintain their admit card.  The admission card is one of the crucial documents needed for the counselling procedure.  As a result, on the day of the test, candidates are required to retain the original copy of their admission card.  Since it will be checked during the counselling process, they shouldn't write anything on it or tamper with it.

Exit Option: During the counselling process, if a candidate feels that they don't want to pariticipate further, then they may choose an option to exit. If they choose this option, it means that they are withdrawing from the counselling process and they will not be considered for further round of counselling.

The CLAT 2025 Counselling will be held through online centralised system. CLAT Admission Process 2025 will be completely online. Candidates must note get confused with the same. 

The Consortium includes each candidate's admit card number who has been shortlisted for the counselling procedure in the invite list.  Additionally, each shortlisted applicant will receive an email or SMS inviting them to a counselling session.  To confirm the counselling invitation, it is recommended that all candidates register into their accounts.

At the moment, there are a total of 24 NLUs that are participating institutes of CLAT 2025. The seat intake for all the courses offered at NLUs has been revised as under:
For the five-year LL.B. - The integrated law programme is offered by all the 24 NLUs, with the seat intake standing at 3,213 seats. For the one-year LL. M. - The programme is offered by 21 NLUs, which have a combined intake of 1,217 seats. In 2021, total 4,009 seats were available, out of which 3,012 seats are available for UG courses and 997 seats are available for PG course admissions. 

Once the CLAT seat allotment 2025 is over, candidates will have to finish the NLU admission process to secure their seat. The admission process for 24 NLUs involves following steps:

Admission Fee: All those candidates who have been allotted seats have to pay the admission fee to confirm their admission.

The CLAT counselling fee of INR 50,000 paid at the time of registration is refundable. However, candidates should keep in mind the following points:

• The fee will be fully refunded if candidates withdraw their seat before the last date
• A deduction of INR 10,000 to the total counselling fee will be made if candidates withdraw their seat after the last date

• If candidates are found ineligible during document verification then their admission will be cancelled. Such candidates will get refund INR 40,000 after deduction of processing charges.

Candidates will be allotted seat during the CLAT seat allotment process 2025. However, only those candidates who have completed the CLAT Counselling 2025 registration successfully will be made eligible for CLAT 2025 seat allotment. Check the CLAT Seat Allotment Process 2025 below:

• Allocation of NLU seat based on the candidate's CLAT AIR 2025 and CLAT NLU Preference given by them
• Aspirant can choose and pay the fees to take admission in the NLU
• If a candidate is not happy with the choice given, they can still upgrade it
• Candidates can also choose to exit from the CLAT seat allotment process.

Candidates must note that CLAT Counselling Fees 2025 vary category-wise. Candidates who have registered under the general category will need to submit INR 30,000 for the counselling application fee and the SC, ST, OBC candidates will have to pay INR 20,000.

The registration for admission and CLAT Counselling Process 2025 can only be done if you have the valid CLAT 2025 score card. Candidates must keep their CLAT Scorecard 2025 carefully until the admission process is over.
