In case two students secure the same score in the NEET PG merit list 2026, the following tie-breaking criteria will be considered for providing admission:
More number of correct responses: Candidates who have a greater number of correct responses on the question paper will be placed in a better merit position.
Fewer incorrect responses: Those with a lower number of incorrect responses on the question paper will be placed at a higher rank in the NEET PG 2026 merit list.
Age: The candidate who is older than his/her counterpart will be preferred in case of a tie.
Higher aggregate marks: In case of a tie, the candidate who has secured higher aggregate marks (in percentage) in all MBBS Professional Examinations will be preferred.

The duration of NEET PG counselling depends on number of vacant seats after each round. Usually, the counselling process goes on for over two months time. Each round of NEET PG counselling takes around 15-20 days time starting from registration to reporting. Initial rounds takes a bit more time than last rounds. Candidates have to register online and declare choice for college and course for seat allotment. Registration can be done on the official website. A total of 4 rounds of counselling is held for seat allotment. Based on choice declared by candidates, available seats, NEET PG rank, reservation factor etc. seats are allotted to candidates.
