
NBE is the exam conducting body for different medical exam at postgraduate and postdoctoral level. This page provides candidates information about different exams. NBE announced NEET PG 2025 result on August 19, 2025. NEET SS 2025 exam was held on December 26 & December 27, 2025. FMGE 2025 December session exam was held on January 17, 2026.

What is NBE?
NBE or National Board of Examinations was set up in the year 1975 by the Government of India. NBE was established with the purpose of bringing uniformity in the evaluation of candidates for postgraduate courses in India. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral entrance examinations for admission into 54 disciplines in the field of medicine. Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)
FMGE is a licensing examination conducted for the candidates who have completed their medical education from a foreign university but wish to practice in India.
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test PG (NEET PG)
The entrance test is conducted to evaluate medical graduates for admission to the postgraduate degree programmes (MS/ MD)
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test MDS (NEET MDS)
The entrance test is conducted to evaluate dental graduates for admission to the postgraduate degree programmes (MDS)
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS)
NEET SS is conducted for admission to all Super Specialty (DM/MCh) Courses
Post Diploma Common Entrance Test (PDCET)
The entrance test is conducted to evaluate medical graduates for admission to the postgraduate diploma degree programmes (DNB Broad Speciality)
DNB CET (Super Speciality)
The entrance test is conducted to evaluate medical graduates for admission to the postgraduate diploma degree programmes (DNB Super Speciality)
DNB Dental Speciality
The entrance test is conducted to evaluate dental graduates for admission to the postgraduate diploma degree programmes (DNB)
Fellowship Entrance Test (FET)
FET is conducted by NBE for admission to Post-Doctoral FNB programmes.
Foreign Dental Graduate Screening Test (FDG ST)
FMGE is a licensing examination conducted for the candidates who have completed their dental education from a foreign university but wish to practice in India.
NBE: The authority behind DNB
NBE is responsible for awarding the “Diplomate of National Board” degree. The board conducts DNB PDGET for admission to the three-year DNB (Broad Speciality) course. NBE also conducts the theory and practical examinations for the evaluation of the candidates admitted to these courses. NBE also conducts DNB CET SS for admission to DNB Super Speciality courses after completion of MS/MD/DNB (Broad Speciality).
NBE: Eligibility Criteria
NBE has prescribed the eligibility criteria for the examination conducted by it. The eligibility for each programme has been set in accordance with the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Government of India. The NBE eligibility criteria for various examinations are given below:
Eligibility for Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)
- Candidate must be a citizen of India/ Overseas Citizen of India.
- He/she must possess a primary medical qualification and it should be confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned.
Eligibility for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test PG
- Candidate must possess a degree of MBBS awarded by a recognised university or institute in India.
- He/she must have undergone a compulsory rotatory internship of a year.
- He/ she must be registered with the State Medical Council.
Eligibility for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test MDS
- Candidate must possess a degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery awarded by a recognised university or institute in India.
- He/she must have undergone a compulsory rotatory internship of a year.
- He/ she must be registered with the State Dental Council.
Eligibility for Post Diploma Common Entrance Test (PDCET)
- Candidate must possess a degree of MBBS awarded by a recognised university or institute in India.
- He/she must have undergone a compulsory rotatory internship of a year.
- He/ she must be registered with the State Medical Council.
Eligibility for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test SS
- Candidate must possess a recognized postgraduate medical degree (MD/MS/DNB)
- Candidate must also have a permanent registration certificate of their MBBS qualification
Eligibility for DNB CET (Super Speciality)
- Candidates who possess a Post Graduate Medical Degree/ Provisional Pass Certificate (MD/ MS/ DM/ DNB/ MCh)
- Candidate must also have a permanent registration certificate of their MBBS qualification
- The additional medical qualification should be recognized as per provisions of the IMC Act.
Eligibility for Fellowship Entrance Test (FET)
- Candidates who possess a Post Graduate Medical Degree/ Provisional Pass Certificate (MD/ MS/ DM/ DNB/ MCh)
- Candidate must also have a permanent registration certificate of their MBBS qualification
- The additional medical qualification should be recognized as per provisions of the IMC Act.
Eligibility for Foreign Dental Graduate Screening Test (FDG ST)
- Candidate must be a citizen of India/ Overseas Citizen of India.
- He/she must possess a primary dental qualification and it should be confirmed by the concerned Indian Embassy.
