The mains exam comprises sections such as Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, English Language, Data Analysis and Interpretation, General Awareness / Economy/ Banking Knowledge, and a descriptive test. Candidates need to secure qualifying marks in both the objective and descriptive part. The total marks allotted to the test are 250. There are no negative marks for Descriptive paper. SBI PO Mains Marking Scheme
The marking scheme for mains exam is given below.
- For incorrect answers, one-fourth of marks assigned to a particular question in the objective test are deducted as penalty to arrive at the corrected scores
 - There is no negative marking for the subjective part of the Mains exam
 - If a question is left blank, there will be no penalty for that question

The starting basic SBI PO salary is INR 41,960 (with 4 advance increments). SBI PO pay scale is INR 36,000-1490/7-46430-1740/2-49910-1990/7-63840. The officials are also eligible for DA, HRA/Lease rental, CCA, Medical, and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time.
