SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2026: The Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CGL 2026 official notification on May 21. Along with the announcement of the notification, the SSC CGL Application form link is also activated. The last date to apply is June 22, 2026. It is advised to the candidates to read the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form. That is the candidates must conform to all the eligibility conditions mentioned in the official notification because the Commission can cancel the candidature in case of candidate does not conform to any of the eligibility conditions given in the official notification. The candidates must understand the SSC CGL eligibility criteria to fill the application form.
The candidates should read and download the SSC CGL notification 2026 PDF to get the details about the exam. Moreover, they can read here the most important points about the SSC CGL 2026 eligibility conditions. The Commission will conduct the SSC CGL 2026 exam in August-September 2026. SSC CGL Eligibility 2026: Nationality/Citizenship
A candidate must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin migrated from either/or Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Note: The official notification reads, "A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India."
SSC CGL Age Limit 2026
The Commission mention different age limit for different posts. Based on the age limits defined in the official notification for the SSC CGL posts, the candidates can see below the four groups of SSC CGL age limit. Given in the table below are post- and pay-level-wise age criteria (as of August 1, 2026) that candidates need to meet to be eligible for the SSC CGL exam. The Commission prescribes four types of age limits for the SSC CGL Posts. These four types are as follows:

SSC CGL Relaxation Provided to Reserved Categories

SSC CGL 2026: Application Form
The Staff Selection Commission activated the SSC CGL 2026 online application link on the official portal at ssc.gov.in. The candidates are required to fill out the CGL application form through the One-Time Registration number and credentials. The candidate requires the SSC registration number for login purposes. The application form fee is INR 100 only. Once the form is duly filled, candidates can pay the application fee through SBI Challan/BHIM UPI/Net Banking or by using Visa/Mastercard/Maestro Credit/RuPay debit card.

No. The Tier 1 marks for the SSC CGL are not used in the preparation of the final merit list. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is qualifying in nature. Candidates are shortlisted for Tier 2 exam. However, the final selection and ranking is based on the marks obtained in the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam.
