SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2025: The Staff Selection Commission released the official notification on June 9 and mentioned the SSC CGL eligibility criteria in the official notification. The candidates must conform to all the eligibility conditions mentioned in the official notification because the Commission can cancel the candidature in case of candidate does not conform to any of the eligibility conditions given in the official notification. The candidates must understand the SSC CGL eligibility criteria to fill the application form.

Moreover, they can read here the most important points about the SSC CGL 2025 eligibility conditions. The Commission will conduct the SSC CGL 2025 exam from August 13 to 30, 2025. Some of the SSC CGL posts have physical and medical standard tests too. The official notification prescribes the standard measurements of those posts too.
The Staff Selection Commission can change the passing marks required for clearing the SSC CGL Tier 2. The minimum passing marks for the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam vary based on categories. For the UR category, the minimum qualifying marks are 30%, for OBC/EWS it is 25%, and for all other categories, it is 20%.
There are three main components of the SSC CGL eligibility. These are

- Educational Qualification
- Age limit.
All the posts in the SSC CGL exam are open to the Citizens of India. To apply for the SSC CGL exam, the candidate must be a Graduate of a recognised university or institution. A candidate must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin migrated from either/or Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Note: The official notification reads, "A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India."
SSC CGL Age Limit 2025
The Commission mention different age limit for different posts. Based on the age limits defined in the official notification for the SSC CGL posts, the candidates can see below the four groups of SSC CGL age limit. Given in the table below are post- and pay-level-wise age criteria (as of August 1, 2025) that candidates need to meet to be eligible for the SSC CGL exam. SSC CGL Relaxation Provided to Reserved Categories
A relaxation in the upper age limit has been provided to candidates belonging to categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), Persons with Disability (PwD) and Ex-Servicemen (ESM). The age relaxation provided is as follows:
Yes, the Commission can increase the number of SSC CGL exam centers in a state. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has the authority to change the number of exam centers assigned to any region, including increasing the number of SSC CGL exam centers in a state. The allocation of exam centers is based on various factors such as the number of candidates, availability of infrastructure, and other logistical considerations.
Therefore, the Commission can adjust the number of exam centers to accommodate the needs of candidates and ensure a smooth conduct of the SSC CGL examination.
The Staff Selection Commission mention the SSC CGL exam pattern in the official notification. The Commission released the official notification for the SSC CGL on June 9, 2025.
