CUET Geography Syllabus 2026: National Testing Agency released the CUET 2026 Syllabus for all subjects, including Geography, on its official website - cuet.nta.nic.in. The Geography exam consists of topics like Transport, Communication and Trade, Human Settlements, Human Geography, and so on. Candidates planning to get admission in a UG course that requires Geography as one of the test subjects must understand the CUET syllabus 2026 in detail and review previous years' papers to get an idea of the difficulty level of CUET Exam.

NTA conducts the Common University Entrance Test (UG) annually. The exam is held to offer admission to candidates in undergraduate programmes in 200+ universities across India. A: 

No, CUET syllabus is not based on CBSE syllabus as claimed by Education Ministry in Rajya Sabha. The CUET exam is designed to assess the general understandig of the candidate in subjects he/she has opted for. CUET UG is on of the biggest UG entrance exam carnival conducted for admission in cebtral, state, private and deemed universities.

Candidates preparing for CUET UG exam must check the detailed CUET syllabus and CUET question paper to become familiar with the important topics and type of questions asked in the exam.  

Q:   What is the difficulty level of the CUET exam?
A: 

The difficulty level of the CUET exam varies between moderate and tough. Since the CUET UG exam is held for multiple subjects and slots, the difficulty level of the exam varies from subject to subject. Sometimes, the difficulty level may also vary for different slots. While for the well-prepared candidates, the difficulty level will be low, for the underprepared students, the level of difficulty will be on the higher side.  

Q:   Does the CUET syllabus also include chapters from Class 11?
A: 

No, class 11th subject syllabus is not included in CUET UG exam. Students who are preparing for CUET 2026 exam must focus on class 12th NCERT curriculum. NTA prescribes the CUET UG syllabus on its official website. Candidates must be familar the detailed syllabus mentioned on the NTA CUET official website- cuet.nta.nic.in. However, for better concepts clarity, candidates may refer to the class 11th resources.

NTA CUET 2026 exam will be scheduled in May/June 2026 tentatively. Candidates preparing for board examinations must prepare well for the CUET exam along.

  • Primary Activities – Concept and changing trends; Gathering, pastoral, mining, subsistence agriculture, modern agriculture; People engaged in agriculture and allied activities – some examples from selected countries

  • Population – Distribution Density and Growth; Composition of population; Linguistic and religious; Rural – urban population occupational; change through time-regional variations

Unit 2: Human Settlements

  • Rural Settlements – types and distribution;
  • Urban Settlements – types, distribution and functional classification 

Unit 3: Resources and Development

  • Land Resources- General land use; Agriculture land use – major crops; Agricultural development and problems, Common property resources;
  • Water Resources – Availability and utilization – irrigation, domestic, industrial and other uses; Scarcity of water and conservation methods – rain water harvesting and watershed management
  • Mineral and Energy Resources – metallic and non-metallic minerals and their distributions; conventional and non-conventional energy sources;
  • Planning in India – Target area planning (case study); Idea of sustainable development (case study). 

Unit 4: Transport, Communication and International Trade

  • Transport and Communication – roads, railways, waterways and airways; oil and gas pipelines; communication networkings – radio, television, satellite and internet;
  • International Trade – changing pattern of India’s foreign trade; Sea ports and their hinterland and airports.

Since the CUET UG 2026 syllabus is in line with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus, it can be safely assumed that the NCERT books are enough to clear CUET UG 2025 exam. Candidates must note that, CUET exam tests students' understanding of the concepts and ability to apply them in various situations. Therefore, to prepare well and get a good score, it is advised that students refer to other study materials and books designed for national level competitive entrance exams. The CUET UG syllabus is in tune with the Class 12 Board exam syllabus. The chapters and topics are similar to Class 12 syllabus. Unlike other UG entrance exams, CUET UG syllabus does not include Class 11 syllabus.

No, CUET is not required to get admission into St. Wilfred's College of Arts, Commerce and Science. The college offers merit-based admission into UG and PG programmes.

No, VELS School of Mass Communication does not accept CUET or any other entrance for that matter. All courses accept merit-based admissions. Which means, only your Class 10/ 12/ UG marks will be considered depending on the programme.

No, CUET-UG counselling is yet to begin for academic year 2026. Results for this year's exam are scheduled to release by July. Counselling rounds will begin only after results have been declared. Candidates can track counselling dates from website of TISS, Mumbai for BSc admission.

No, candidates cannot get admission into BA at Tata Institute of Social Sciences without appearing for CUET-UG. Candidates will be selected during CUET-UG counselling for which, appearing in its entrance exam is a mandatory requirement.

Yes, CUET-UG is a mandatory entrance exam for admission into Tata Institute of Social Sciences BA course. No other entrance exams are accepted for admission into this course and candidates cannot apply directly.

CUET-UG registrations also affect admission schedule if TISS, Mumbai.
