Candidates who are interested in appearing for the exam and started their JAM 2025 preparation, must go through the changes introduced by IIT Delhi, the exam official of the JAM 2025 exam. A list of changes introduced in the IIT JAM 2025 exam will help the candidates to know about the important insights that will keep them updated for the JAM 2025 admission process and for better IIT JAM 2025 preparation. In all sections, questions not attempted will result in zero marks. There is no provision for partial marking. The candidates are required to select the answer (s) for MCQ and MSQ type questions using the mouse. The answer for NAT questions must be entered using a mouse on a virtual numeric keypad. The keyboard of the computer will be disabled.
There is a provision for using an online virtual calculator. Candidates are not allowed to bring their own calculators.
A scribble pad will be provided for rough work. Candidates have to write their name and registration number before using it. The scribble pad has to be returned at the end of the examination. The examination will end automatically after the stipulated time. Candidates are required to adhere to the code of conduct specified in Annexure III (Code of Conduct).

IIT JAM 2025 Organizing Institute Changed
IIT JAM exam conducting institute changes rotationally every year. For the academic session 2025-2026 the exam conducting body will be IIT Delhi. JAM is not just an exam but it's a gateway to premier institutes offering high-quality postgraduate education. The interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum empowers students to translate scientific knowledge into real-world applications. These opportunities are open to all eligible students, regardless of nationality, with English as the medium of instruction. IIT Delhi will conduct and regulate all the admission process details of IIT JAM 2025.
IIT JAM 2025 Exam Centres Increased
For JAM 2024 examination, the officials had given 112 examination centres for the candidates to appear in for the examination. This year IIT Delhi has increased the JAM 2025 exam centres to 116. For better convenience in understanding by the candidates, the exam officials have divided the IIT JAM 2025 exam centres into eight different exam centre zones namely IISc Banglore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee zones. The IIT JAM organizing institute will change rotationally among these exam centre zones.

The official website informs that there could be one or more IIT JAM exam centres in one city. While filling out the JAM 2025 application form, candidates need to select three preferences as the JAM 2025 exam centres. Candidates are requested to choose the nearby examination cities so that at the examination time they do not need to travel far distances. However, it may be noted that the first two exam cities should be from the same zone.
IIT JAM 2025 MSc Chemistry Syllabus Modified
IIT Delhi has introduced the basic mathematical concepts (10+2 level) in the IIT JAM 2025 MSc Chemistry examination for the admissions session 2025-2026. earlier int he JAM MSc chemistry examination, questions from the chemistry domains like organic chemistry, inorganic and physical chemistry were used to ask. For this year onwards, questions from basic mathematical concepts will also be asked. The exam officials are yet to specify the weightage for which the new section is added, however, candidates can expect that around questions of 10 marks can be asked by the officials from basic mathematical concepts in the form of MCQ, MSQ or Numerical answer type.

New Participating Institute Added
IIT JAM 2025 exam is being conducted to provide admissions to the MSc and Integrated PhD programmes at various IITs and other JAM 2025 result-sharing institutes through CCMN counselling process. Till last year 21 IITs were the participating institutions in the IIT JAM examination. From this year, IIT Dharwad has also added up for admissions in the master; 's degree programmes. IIT JAM 2025 Seat Intake Increased for IITs
Last year JAM 2024 admissions were done in 21 IIT institutes which were offering 2987 seats across the JAM 2024 admitting institutes. There are around 3057 seats in postgraduate programmes at 22 IITs for the academic year 2025-26. JAM 2025 Scores will be used to admit the candidates subject to satisfying the ERs, MEQs and any other necessary requirements, without any additional interview or written test. JAM score will also be used for admission to over 2000 seats for postgraduate programmes such as M.Sc. and M.A. at IISc, CFTIs, various NITs, DIAT, IIEST Shibpur, II S ER Pune, IISER Bhopal, IIPE, JNCASR, SLIET through Centralized Counselling for M.Sc / M.Sc. (Tech.) Admission (CCMN). There are no additional written tests or interviews for admission to candidates qualifying JAM and satisfying the eligibility and special eligibility requirements through CCMN.

JAM 2026 Examination will be conducted in SEVEN subjects, also referred to as Test Papers; Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH). The medium for all the Test Papers is English only.
JAM 2026 examination pattern is divoded in such a way that the exam will be conducted in the form of three sections ie., Section A, B and C.
Section - B contains a total of 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) carrying two marks each. Each MSQ is similar to MCQ but with the difference that MSQ may have one or more than one correct choice (s) out of the four given choices. The candidate is awarded full credit only if all the correct answer (s) and no wrong answers are selected. Candidates can mark the answer (s) by clicking the choice (s). There is no negative marking or partial marking for MSQ.
