Q: You have scored more than 800 marks out of 800. Was this result expected? Please tell us about your first reaction.
A: I did know that I had answered every question correctly, but somehow, I could only hope for 800 out of 800. When I realised that my raw score was 800, my immediate reaction was of extreme happiness, and I could not believe that my hard work had paid off.

Q: Tell us about your family and educational background?
A: My family has been small and close-knit since the beginning. I am a single child and both my parents are working. My school, St. Joseph’s Convent High School is affiliated to the ICSE Board, and I have been studying here since Kindergarten.
Q: How was your board result?
A: I was the Arts stream state topper in my ISC Board Exams. I got 97.25%.

Q: When did you start preparing for CUET Exam? What all books did you refer to?
A: I started preparing for CUET in the beginning of class 12. My primary source for preparation was NCERT. Other than that, I used Career Launcher books for MCQs.
Q: How much time did you devote to self-study? What do you feel is better, coaching or self-study?
A: Self-study is important, with or without coaching. After my Board Exams were over, I spent at least 6 hours a day going through my notes and reading NCERT books. Whether someone prefers self-study or coaching is a matter of personal preference as everyone has different ways of studying.
Q: Which subject is your strong one and which is the weakest? Are NCERT books sufficient for preparations?
A: It would be hard to call any subject my weakest or strongest, but I did like studying English the most and I was definitely the most stressed out for Economics. According to me, NCERT books were sufficient for preparation, at least in my subjects, and if you have read every line multiple times, you will be able to answer all questions.

Q: What was your exam day strategy? According to you, what was the toughest and easiest section?
A: I made it a point to reach the centre really early on the exam day. Then, I just revised the parts of my NCERT books which felt important to me. It is important to stay hydrated and not to get fazed by the large number of people there. Just stay composed despite any technical difficulties, otherwise, it is easy to forget something you remembered quite well before that. There is no universal ‘easiest’ or ‘hardest’ section in CUET as every subject has different papers with varying difficulty levels in different shifts. In my shift, Economics was surprisingly easy while everything else was moderately easy according to me.
Q: Which all universities did you apply for? What was your dream college?
A: I applied for quite a few universities just so that I had backup options, but the only University I really wanted to attend was Delhi University. My first preference was Miranda House College and my second preference was Lady Shri Ram College.

Q: What are the courses you are looking forward to?
A: I would like to pursue B.A. English Honours. While I would also be open to other Humanities courses, English is my first choice.
Q: To whom would you like to attribute this success? What would you suggest to future CUET aspirants in terms of preparation, attitude, etc.?
A: I attribute my success to my parents, who have encouraged me to pursue the stream I truly had an aptitude for. I would also thank my teachers, who solved every doubt I had and motivated me when I needed it. Future aspirants should be clear as to what they want to study and where, as such clarity encourages one to work harder to realise that vision. Read NCERT multiple times, and solve mock tests. Above all, try your best to remain confident and composed throughout all difficulties, and do not lose hope.

From the year 2021 onwards, CUET is conducted in computer-based mode. Till 2020, the exam was conducted in paper-pencil based (PBT) mode. The exam will continue to be conducted in the computer-based mode or online mode. As per the CUET exam pattern, the exam was conducted in two to three slots, depending on the number of applications received in a subject. There were three sections on Language, Domain Subject and General Test (optional). The number of questions and marks will vary from paper to paper.
