Parinita further talked about her CUET-UG 2023 preparation strategy, exam experience, plans on higher studies, targetted colleges and more. Check out the excerpts from the interview below:
Q: You have scored more than 799.64 marks out of 800. Was this result expected? Please tell us about your first reaction.
A: I was very much satisfied with my performance in the test but I was still very overwhelmed by the perfect score. I had only sparingly dreamed of getting a perfect score, in times when the mind wanders into the realm of fantasies. My first reaction was to leave my mouth hanging as I stared at my phone screen!

Q: Tell us about your family and educational background?
A: My father is an Army officer and my mother is a retired Army officer, currently a homemaker. I have studied in several schools but have spent classes 9th to 12th in Army Public School, Bangalore.
Q: How was your board result?
A: I scored 96.8% in boards, which was not as well a score as I expected, but I am thankful, as it gave me the final push I needed to really commit to the CUET exam.

Q: When did you start preparing for CUET Exam? What all books did you refer to?
A: I would consider my preparation for the Boards as my preparation for the CUET exam as well, considering majority of the syllabus was common. However, I made it a point to seriously brush up all the NCERT syllabus that was cancelled by CBSE for the boards.
I referred to mainly NCERT Textbooks, but YouTube videos explaining the concepts in the books were a big help to me too.
Q: How much time did you devote to self-study? What do you feel is better, coaching or self-study?
A: Personally, I prefer self-study and did not take any tuitions. My main strategy for preparation was to do as many mock CUET exams as I could. After a point, testing what you know matters more than knowing everything. However, in the debate of self-study vs tuition, it really depends on the student and what drives their knowledge retention capabilities.
Q: Which subject is your strong one and which is the weakest? Are NCERT books sufficient for preparations?
A: I feel my strongest subject is Economics and my most challenging subject is Maths.
NCERT books are compulsory for preparation, as the exam is based entirely on the NCERT syllabus. Although, for Accounts, T S Grewal was helpful for extra practice.

Q: What was your exam day strategy? According to you, what was the toughest and easiest section?
A: My exam strategy was to prevent straining my mind beforehand by too many revisions. I simply focused on clearing my mind of any anxiety before the exam, though I can say that during the exam I was in a full-blown panic attack! Each exam had a few questions I was unsure of, for which I used the process of elimination to choose the answer. The fact that we needed to attempt only 40 out of 50 questions was truly a boon.
Q: Which all universities did you apply for? What was your dream college?
A: I only applied to Delhi University (DU), with the aim of getting into either Shri Ram College of Commerce or LSR.

Q: What are the courses you are looking forward to?
A: My first preference is Bcom Hons and second is BA Eco Hons.
Q: To whom do you attribute your successful CUET journey? What would you suggest to future CUET aspirants in terms of preparation, attitude, etc.?
A: I would credit my success, always and forever, to my parents and teachers. Their relentless support and guidance is the secret ingredient to all the victories in my life.
For preparing for CUET, I would suggest all aspirants to be thorough in covering the basic concepts of NCERT and unrelentingly test their knowledge through mock tests. Do not be let down by any bumps in the road. This is not a sprint, but a marathon and consistency is key!
