CUET UG Subjects 2026

Candidates seeking admission at TISS through CUET must first know the subjects and languages that NTA offers for CUET exams 2026. According to NTA, candidates must select five subjects [one compulsory language, three or four domain subjects, and a general aptitude test (if required)] to be eligible for admission at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Q:   How many subjects can I choose for the CUET exam?
A: 

From CUET UG 2026 onwards, candidates can now choose for five CUET subjects. Earlier, the subject choices were six. With the rediuction in number of CUET subjects, the choices have been reduced. Candidates can opt for five subjects from 23 domain subjects of any stream irrespective of subjects studied in class 12th. 

Q:   How do I select the domain subjects for CUET UG?
A: 

Go on the official website of university/organaisation. Check the courses offered and eligibility test that they should appear in for admission to desired course. The choice of language/domain subject and General test will depend upon the course and university. Candidates will be able to opt for one or more tests as per the requirement of the course and university from the following sections:

  • Section I - 13 Languages
  • Section II - 23 Domain Specific Subjects
  • Section III - General Test
Q:   What CUET subjects should I choose for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at TISS?
A: 

For the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at TISS, students need to select the English Language as a compulsory subject from Section I and a General Test from Section III. 

Q:   Are there any penalties for not following the CUET subject mapping correctly?
A: 

Yes, candidates who do not fulfill the subject mapping and eligibility criteria for a UG course at the applied university may face disqualification during the admission process. It means that, even if a candidate scores well in the CUET UG exam but do not meet the subject combination requirements of the target CUET college, their application will be rejected.

Candidates filling out the CUET Application Form must keep the following points in mind to avoid any problems in the future:

Q:   Does CUET require OBC certificate?
A: 

Yes, OBC candidates applying for CUET must upload the OBC-NCL certificate in online CUET application form. The OBC-NCL certificate must be issued in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India. If candidate fail to upload the OBC-NCL certificate (issued on or after 01 April, 2024) at the time of CUET registration, then in such case they will have to upload a declaration in lieu of OBC-NCl certificate to that effect. 

Candidates belonging to reserved categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by Government of India. However, in the case of central universities admission, the reservation criteria of the respective university shall be applicable.

Q:   How can I stay updated on CUET subject mapping changes?
A: 

The subject mapping criteria consists of course-wise subjects required to be filled in the online form. Visit the official university's website or NTA CUET UG website at cuet.nta.nic.in to know about any changes in the CUET subject mapping. Ensure to check the latest and updated subject requirements while filling out the CUET application form.

 

Q:   What is CUET UG exam slot and timing?
A: 

CUET 2027 exam will likely be held in two slots. As per last year's exam timings, the first slot is held between 9 AM and 12 PM and the second slot between 3 PM and 6 PM. Candidates will be able to check the exact subject-wise timings on their admit card. 

Q:   What is the medium of CUET UG?
A: 

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG is conducted Assamese, Bengali,  English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi,  Punjabi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu languages. Q:   What is the CUET exam duration for each subject?
A: 

As per CUET exam pattern, the subjects are divided into three sections as:

Section I- Languages 

Section II- Domain Subject

Section III- General Test

Candidates will get 60 minutes for each subject. Candidates will not be given extra time.

Q:   What is CUET UG exam?
A: 

Common University Entrance Test/ CUET UG is an entrance exam. It is conducted for admission to UG programs offered by various central, state, private and deemed universities. Candidates willing to take admission to undergraduation programme in streams like Science, Humanities, Commerce, Law and Management must appear for CUET UG exam when conducted.

This entrance examination assesses candidates at various levels: Language, domain knowledge and general aptitude. CUET UG is conducted annually in computer based mode. CUET UG scores are accepted by more than 300 universities across India. 

Q:   How can I check my CUET exam centre?
A: 

Candidates can check the CUET 2026 allotted exam centre upon release of CUET intimation slip and CUET admit card. Only candidates who will fill the CUET application form along with the successful application fee payment will be able to download the intimation slip for CUET exam. The name of exam centre will be mentioned on the intimation alip in advance to help candidates make preparations accordingly. The CUET 2026 admit card is expected to release three to four days prior to the day of examination in online mode. Candidates will be able to check the following details on the release of CUET 2026 admit card:

  1. Name of the candidate
  2. Registration number
  3. Category
  4. Location
  5. Date of exam
  6. Time of exam
  7. Exam centre name & address
  8. Photograph
  9. Signature
  10. Instructions related to the exam 

Candidates must note that the CUET exam centre once allotted, no request for change in exam centre will be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates are advised to carefully enter the exam centre preference while filling the CUET 2026 application form.

Q:   What special facilities are provided to PwD candidates to appear for CUET exam?
A: 

As per the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment guidelines, PwD candidates will be provided with following facilities:

  1. Scribe facility: In case the candidate has physical limitation and required a scribe for writing the exam, he/she must be certified in the format provided by CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care Institution.
  2. Extra time: PwD candidates will get extra time of one hour whether such candidates use scribe facilities or not.

 No, a pure PCB student cannot pursue a BCA at IIPS,DAVV because Mathematics is a strictly mandatory eligibility requirement.

No, CUET is not required to get admission in BSc at Dayananda Sagar University. Admission is offered on merit basis. However, caniddates with valid scores of CUET, KCET or DSAT are taken into consideration for admission.
