M.Tech. in Civil Engineering (Remote Sensing) - Batch of 2014
5.0
Awesome College in all respect.
Placements: IIT Bombay has almost 100% placements, I was one of the company coordinator in IIT bombay placement cell for 2013-2014. Our senior batch even got full placement. But the fact is the Computer Science and electrical background students get their respective companies with very good packages with the average of 15 lacs per annum ranging between (8-50 lacs/annum). The core companies for Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace offer very less packages as expected by the students varies from 5lac-15lac/annum. Even the higher degree students such as M.Tech get lesser packages then B.Tech students. But as per my experience these core companies (such as Civil, Mechanical, etc. ). Has very good scope of increment in few years once you join them. There are almost all top FMCG, Banking, Analytical companies which visit IITB. The students who are not interested in core companies, apply to these companies as they also offer very good packages (more than 10lac/annum). There many students who get the opportunity for internship. There is separate internship team in IIT bombay managed by students. Placement cell of IIT bombay is awesome as it involves few faculty members and mostly handled by the students (who work hard to place their own batchmets).
Infrastructure: IIT Bombay has 24 hours Wi-Fi, fully equipped labs, huge library, 24X7 hospital facility, almost all sports facility with a huge gym khana building. There are various food palces in IIT Bombay, each hostel has a mess were we get food four times a day, along with mess each hostel also has a canteen which is open till 3 am night. Apart from mess and canteens there are cafeteria's such as campus hub, gulmohar, brew and bite and a very good restaurant. The quality food in all the places is good. Almost all the labs and classroom are a air conditioned with proper projector and other facilities. Some hostel room are good enough but few rooms are very small ans congested. I did not face any infrastructural related issues during my tenure.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. IIT bombay is very strict in hiring faculty members, so the teaching quality is also very good. Usually the mode of teaching is blackboard or through presentation slides. Our batch had a industrial visit to Hyderabad, we visited all the remote sensing agencies (NRSC, ISRO etc. ). And companies (Hexagon, Intergraph etc. ). Yes the course curriculum was useful to me.
Other: There is no end to this list, Events and fest : Mood Indigo, Tech fest, swar-sandhaya, AIDS (dance event), PG cult etc. IIT bombay has one the beautiful campus among all IIT's, with dense trees, powai lake, samir hill. Extracurricular: Summer school of cult has many classes for arts, dance, music, sports, aerobics, yoga, zumba etc.
