MCA and MCA (Hons) are two-year courses each divided into four semesters. LPU offers MCA and MCA (Hons) in two specialisations. Additionally, the university also offers MCA in online and distance education modes through the LPU Centre for Distance & Online Education. After completing graduation, candidates can apply for MCA courses. LPU shortlists candidates for MCA and MCA (Hons) courses based on LPUNEST score. Selection criteria: LPUNEST
Eligibility: Candidates also need to pass BCA or BSc Computer Science or BSc IT or any graduation with computer science as a course in all three years of graduation with at least 55% aggregate to apply for MCA course. Aspirants who have passed BA/ BCom/ BSc (any discipline) with Mathematics /Statistics / QT/ Business Math at Class 12 level or graduation level (Have to do bridge/additional courses after joining LPU) can apply for MCA course.
Note: 5% to North East states and Sikkim candidates/ Defence Personnel and their Dependents/Wards of Kashmiri Migrants. Also, the minimum aggregate as per the awarding board/ university are considered.

LPU accepts LPUNEST score for admission to MCA and MCA Hons courses. LPUNEST exam is conducted online every year for admission to MCA and other courses. The test is as an Entrance Test and Scholarship Test. Scholarship amount is determined by the marks and rank obtained by students in the exam. The exam duration is 2.5 hours. The test comprises 125 questions of 500 marks. Students also need to complete graduation to get admission to MCA.

LPU MCA Admission 2026: How to Apply?
LPU admission cycle begins with the registration process followed by selection rounds and counselling. Below are the steps for LPU MCA admissions:
The exam fee for LPUNEST is INR 1,000 for males and INR 500 for females. Check below the steps to apply for LPU admission:
Step 1: Visit the official website of LPU, https://www.lpu.in/, and click on the ' Apply Now' tab at the top of the web page.
Step 2: Register on the official admission portal of LPU i.e. LPUADMIT (admission.lpu.in) with basic details such as name, email-id, mobile no., state, gender and password). The email id used during registration will act as the username for the portal and the password needs to be set by the candidate while registering. Candidates can continue to apply for LPUNEST (for scholarship purposes).
Step 3: Upload the requisite documents.
Step 4: Pay the application fee and hit on the submit button to complete the application process.

Step 2: Slot Booking
This step is applicable only to the candidates appearing for LPU NEST. In LPUNEST slot booking, aspirants need to select an exam date and a shift for appearing in the exam. There are two ways to book the slot that are slot booking by the candidate and slot booking by the authorities of Lovely Professional University.
Step 3: Selection Rounds
The university conducts LPUNEST to shortlist candidates for MCA admission.
Step 3: Admission Confirmation
After completion of the selection rounds, shortlisted candidates for MCA are further called for document verification round. Aspirants need to confirm their seat by paying the MCA course fee.

Review of LPU - Lovely Professional University.
Placements: In my MCA last year batch, more than half of the students had places by various companies like Essential and Capgemini, so most of the students got placed.
The highest package an alumni got is 3 crore, the average is 15 LPA and the minimum package is 5 LPA. And as for recruiting companies, Google, ServiceNow, Microsoft, and many other HCL and TCS companies come for MCA recruiting. More than 50% of students already got internship on their second year from Google, TCS, etc. Top roles offered are front-end development, data science, and cybersecurity.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is absolutely stunning, with all buildings well-designed and creative. The classrooms have separate, comfortable seats with projectors, and all building blocks have Wi-Fi. The labs are equipped with high-functionality computers. The hostel buildings are good, and the dean of the college is well-behaved. Each room works properly, and the mess food quality is good. There are many canteens and a food court available, so students can move around easily and get food. The university also has its own hospital, providing medical facilities.
Faculty: Most teachers here are PhD-level, either as assistant professors or department heads. The teaching quality is good, and all teachers use real-life examples to help students understand topics easily. The curriculum is relevant, preparing students for the industry. Additionally, they provide pep classes for all students, which offer real examples of industry work.
Other: I pursued BCA and worked for 2 years at TCS, and now I am pursuing MCA to get higher LPA packages for my better future. As of now, everything is better here; there's nothing to improve about the course, as you will gain both theoretical and practical knowledge. The university conducts many events, including car racing, bike racing, ramp walk modeling, art, singing, hackathons, and many more. For extracurricular activities, you can also join any student club you want.

MCA from LPU at a glance.
Placements: Here is information about the Master of Computer Applications program at Lovely Professional University in 2021. The number of students who get placed successfully every year is 99%. The highest, lowest, and average packages of our course offered are INR 30 lacs, INR 3 lacs, and INR 9 lacs per annum, respectively. The top companies that come every year for recruiting are Meta, Zomato, and Swiggy. The roles offered are web developer, data scientist, and system analyst.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for our course have high-speed internet access available everywhere throughout the campus. The classrooms have biometrics for the attendance of the students, the food menu keeps changing now and then and the quality of the food provided to us is very decent.
Faculty: The MCA teachers at this lovely professional university are quite qualified but they lack experience in terms of practical knowledge. The learning is mostly confined to books; practical knowledge is not imparted to the students on a day-to-day basis. Some professors are also really over-obsessed with their achievements.

Review of Lovely Professional University.
Placements: More than 80% of students get placed in MCA. The lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA, the highest salary package is 18 LPA, and the average salary package is 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Cognizant, Capgemini, Accenture, TCS, and many more. Top roles offered are software engineer, intern, and associate in companies.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided in the hostel are good. The infrastructure of our college is very good and beautiful. Our campus consists of many canteens and food courts. Every block has at least 4 canteens and a tuck shop on every floor for snacks like chocolate, etc.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are supportive. They provide 1 on 1 mentor to help students and organises many quiz competitions in coding challenge for students. Semester exams are not tough. The pass percentage is 40%. Students can easily score a minimum of 20% in their CAs and the mid-term.
Other: Our college gives value for money. It provides 50% of the scholarship on the fee if students get good scores in the LPU NEST entrance exam. Campus crowd is very high. There are 1200 students in MCA.

Placements: The top recruiting company is TCS.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very good.
Faculty: Faculty members are neither good nor experienced. Our department has few faculty members. Semester exams are well-managed. Our college should focus more on practical knowledge. We have CA exams, mid-terms, and final semester exams. There are 10 core subjects and 3 placement subjects.
Other: Our college is from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Mixed feelings for the College.
Placements: LPU has a placement of 99%. The highest package offered was 32 LPA and the lowest was 3 LPA and the average package for MCA is 8-9 LPA. The major companies that come to LPU are the top MNCs and mass recruiters like TCS, Infosys, Capgemini and other companies like Zomato, Swiggy, etc.
Infrastructure: In hostels, there is no option for non-veg food. For Wi-Fi, they provide jio net and you get 1 GB of data per mobile number and you can get more data using other numbers. Internet connectivity depends on where you are on campus and which operator you are using. It is good in some places and bad in others. There is also JIO 5G on campus.
Faculty: Semester exams are not difficult in the university. There are a lot of classes so you will get very less time for self-study. As I am writing this answer I am having 6-8 classes of 1 hr every day. The timings are 9 AM - 5 PM. The courses which are taught are not updated for a long time. So they will teach you a lot of outdated concepts inside the course.

Our college has good infrastructure and placements, but not teachers.
Placements: As explained by one of the faculty members that in the previous year, almost 155 students were eligible for placements. Out of them, around 118 got placed. The salary package offered ranges from 3 LPA to 7 LPA. Recruiting companies are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, etc. Most companies prefer B.tech students to MCA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure can be rated as 5 out of 5. But I am disappointed with the hostel as it is not worth the money paid. There are also restrictions. I heard that the food quality is average. All other facilities like sports and games can be rated as 5 out of 5. Wi-Fi is provided here but is limited to students. Around 1 GB per day is provided which is not enough for students these days.
Faculty: I would rate it 4 out of 5 because of some bad teachers. The exams are conducted properly and can be rated as 5 out of 5 for the arrangements. Semester exams are difficult for this course in most subjects. The syllabus is upgraded to latest.
Other: I choose this course because I have done BCA and to continue my higher studies. It is better if faculty members are improved for this course. Many new faculty members are appointed for this course, especially in the last sections. Due to COVID, there is not much crowd this time, but later it must be when hybrid classes are off, and fully offline classes get started.

You can get admission to B.Tech at LPU through lateral entry after completing a Diploma in Engineering by meeting the eligibility criteria of having a relevant Diploma with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board or institute.
