NIT Rourkela Admission 2026: Cutoff, Fees, Eligibility & Application

After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Those who are above the 98th percentile should start preparing for JEE Advanced as soon as possible. NIT Rourkela BArch is a UG level course offered for the duration of 5 years in the full-time mode. The Institute offers BArch on the basis of valid scores of JEE Main with a total tuition fees worth INR 6.25 Lakh. In addition to this, candidates must qualify the suggested eligibility criteria to secure a confirm seat at NIT Rourkela. 

NIT Manipur JEE Main cutoff 2024 has been released for admission to the BTech courses. Out of NIT Rourkela, NIT Patna and NIT Warangal, NIT Rourkela has the most affordable tuition fees of INR 75,000 which is to be paid over 10 semesters. The total tuition fee of NIT Patna and NIT Warangal is INR 6.25 Lacs and INR 1 lakh, respectively.

However, this is not the only fee one has to pay throughout a semester. Extra costs like medical fees, student activity fee, hall establishment fee, etc. are also added in each semester.

The selection criteria for B.Tech at NIT Rourkela is entrance based with the institute accepting JEE MAIN scores for the same. The minimum eligibility is passing Class 12 in PCM/PCMB stream with atleast 50% aggregate.

NIT Rourkela MSc is a PG level course offered for the duration ranging from 2 years to 5 years. The institute offers MSc on the basis of valid entrance scores such as IIT JAM, CCMN, JEE Main, DASA UG or equivalent. The total tuition fees of the MSc ranges from INR 30K to INR 75K. 

Aspirants have to apply for the GATE exam to pursue M.Tech from NITs. Hence, the applicant must take the GATE exam followed by CCMT counselling. Further, admission will be granted based on scores in the national-level exam, counselling, and cutoff for NIT Rourkela.

The total tuition fee for MSc courses is INR 30,000 and INR 75,000 for the BSc + MSc integrated courses. Apart from this, the total course fee includes other components such as hostel fee, admission fee, caution money and institute emergency fund as well. To be eligible to get admission to MBA course at NIT Rourkela, students are required to fulfil minimum eligibility criteria for the course. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree of three-year duration from a recognised institute/ university with a minimum of 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) are eligible to apply for the course. The students appearing for the final year of their bachelor's degree/ equivalent qualification or awaiting results are also eligible to apply.

The students of NIT Rourkela can apply for scholarships offered by the National or State Government. PhD scholarship/ fellowship is also offered to students by the institute. Below mentioned are the details of some of the NIT Rourkela Scholarships:

1. Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS): SC/ ST students are eligible for Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) of the respective State Governments if they satisfy the norms set by the State Government.
2. Top Class Scholarship: Among the admitted students in the first year top 12 SC students and top 5 ST students are eligible for the scholarship by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GOI and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GOI provided their parental annual income is below INR 4.5 lakh.
3. GATE Scholarship: Students who have taken admission through GATE are eligible for a scholarship of INR 8,000 per month.
4. PhD scholarship: A PhD student with MTech/ MPharm degree and within the age limit is eligible for an Institute research fellowship for four years. The students will get INR 31,000 per month for the first two years and INR 35,000 per month for the next two years on satisfactory performance.

According to cutoffs 2024, it was much tougher to get into the BSc Physics programme as Integrated BSc + MSc in Physics secured the highest cutoff. In 2024, the cutoff rank for Physics was 32,711. Whereas the cutoff rank for Chemistry, Mathematics and Life Science was 50,002, 48,117 and 73,338, respectively.

Therefore, it can be inferred that admission into Integrated BSc + MSc programme in Physics is highly competitive.

NIT Rourkela offers courses in UG, PG and part-level. The Institute offers admission based on valid scores of accepted entrance exams such as JEE Main/ GATE/ IIT JAM or other equivalent.
