NIT Silchar - Strength, weakness, and why students should (or shouldn't ) join.

Placements: There are approximately 70% of students placed in this year. The highest package offered is 53 LPA. The average package is 13.5 LPA, and the lowest is 5.5 LPA. The companies that visit my campus are Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart, Deloitte, MakeMyTrip, AMD, etc. The internship ratio is less as compared to the placement number. It is approximately 30%. The roles offered by companies are software engineer, data analytics, web developer, etc.

Infrastructure: The facilities are good but some modernization is needed like internet connectivity should be better and classrooms should be air-conditioned. Labs are old and should be facilitated with modern technologies. Hostel area is better but the food quality is very bad. Its quality should be much better and hygiene should be followed. Sports facilities are very good. There are different stadiums for different sports. Inter NIT is also held on our campus.

Faculty: Teachers are well-educated and qualified. All professors are Ph.D. degree holders. They have done research in different fields. Their method of teaching is very good. Course curriculum should be revised according to modern technologies and some subjects modern fields should be added such as Data Science, AI, etc. There are three levels of exams mid-term, minor, and end-term which are comprised of 100 marks. The passing grade is 4 points in each subject. Semester exams are not very difficult.

Other: I chose this course in 2022 after seeing the placement reports of 2021 as there was very good placement percentage at that time. College has very good NIRF ranking also. This time, our college has 7th NIRF ranking which is very good. This is also in the top 10 NITs in India. Two fests happen in a year in college which are tech fest and cultural fest. The connectivity of the college is also good as it is 7 KM distant from the railway station and 32 KM distant from airport. Overall, I will suggest to take admission in my college.

The nature's beauty: NIT Silchar.

Placements: The placement statistics of NIT Silchar are very good. Almost 90% of the students are placed in the Electronics and Communication Engineering branch. The highest package for DCR is 60 LPA, the lowest package is 10 LPA, and the average package stands at 17 LPA. Almost 60% of the students got internships this year, and the top company was Nvidia.

Infrastructure: In NIT Silchar, the classrooms are good and have the capacity of 90 students per room. We have a large new gallery where it has many rooms, and each room can contain 150 students. In the hostel, we have double-seater rooms, and we are getting 24-hour LAN facility. The quality of mess food is not so good. We have a health center where medicine is available. We have grounds for every sport, like badminton, cricket, basketball, football, etc.

Faculty: Here in NIT Silchar, teachers are well-qualified. They are very friendly and always ready to help us. They are well-qualified and came from reputed institutes like IITs and NITs. The semester exams are medium to hard level. We have mid-semester exams, minor tests, and end-semester exams.

Other: The campus is good, and the reason I chose this college is that it is very close to my hometown. Here we have basically two fests known as Tecnoesis and Incandescence.

Overall, I can say NIT Silchar is the best place to graduate.

Placements: Above 90% of students got placed in this running year. The highest package was offered 48 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Deloitte, Accenture, etc. The top role offered is software development. But in the case of internships, it is less; you can say 40% of students got internships in the 3rd-year course. The top role offered on our campus is software development.

Infrastructure: The hostel is completely fine and well-equipped, as well as the department facility is also the best. You will get everything, including Wi-Fi, labs, and all the quality of our hostel is the best ever. For example, you will get fully free internet along with 24-hour light and water, etc. The food quality of mess food is not that much good, as well as canteen food is also not that much good. And the rest, all the facilities are the best at NITs.

Faculty: Teachers are most helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. Overall, the teaching quality is the best. The course curriculum is very much relevant to exams and all. Students get ready for their new journey in the industry. Semester exams are not that much difficult. You can easily score good marks if you follow all the classes and the teacher's notes.

Other: I chose this course because I found it the best college in the northeast after IITG. The best thing about my course is that you will get lots of opportunities as a student, as well as you will get a good chance of placement during placement season. The thing I think should be improved is that the hours of classes during exams can be reduced. And the college events are the best part of enjoying your campus life, including fests and all. You will get a good chance of getting a scholarship too.

Internal review of the college .

Placements: The admission and placement scenario of our campus is decent. Many MNC companies have come, and many are coming. Nearly 200 companies come every year. The internship scenario is also decent. In the ECE branch, most students are placed in tech, and others are in core companies. Some tech companies are Microsoft, Atlassian, and Goldman Sachs. Some core companies are BEL, BHEL, and some PSUs.

Infrastructure: Classes are not up to the mark, and labs are not good enough according to the NIRF ranking. Hostel facilities are also not good enough. Some classrooms are old and broken. The hostel Wi-Fi system is not good, and the food quality is very poor.

Faculty: Some faculty members are very good, but some are very poor. They don't know what they are teaching. The curriculum is relevant for industrial systems, but semester exams are very difficult, and questions are very tough in some subjects.

Other: My batch of 2026 in the ECE branch has nearly 190 students. Everyone comes from different places and states, so we can learn about other cultures, traditions, and languages.

Candidates who are appearing in the Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2025 irrespective of their age, are also eligible. Note: List of qualifying examination(QE): i). The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc. ii). What was the highest package in NIT-Silchar for B.Tech in ECE till date?

The highest package from NIT-Silchar is 35 LPA offered by World-Quant . The second highest package was from Irage - Capital of 20 LPA (off campus ) and third is 15.5 LPA from Snapdeal e-commerce.

Which one is better: ECE at NIT-Silchar or CSE at IIIT Sri City? My mains rank is 18984 and have scored 149 marks.

IIIT, Sri City is better then other two. It is mentored by IIIT, Hyderabad and follows the same curriculum as a result of which this year placement were at par with middle level NITs and will surely grow better in coming 3-4 years. Good luck.

Which NIT is better Agartala or Silchar? Which are the top branches in both NIT?

Go for NITS any day. If you look at the ranking also it is ahead but this year also MHRD ranked it above NITA. The top branches here at NITS are CSE, ECE, mechanical, electrical, civil.
