at Panjab University, Chandigarh

Punjab University offers a four-year BE programme across eight specialisations along with an Integrated BE (Chemical) - MBA programme. Admission to both programmes is based on JEE Main. To add, the university also conducts and considers the scores of  PU LEET and PU MEET scores for lateral entry admissions. The minimum eligibility for BE and Integrated courses is Class 12 with PCM subjects from a recognised board as per JAC Chandigarh eligibility criteria. All the affiliated colleges of Panjab University offering BTech are part of JAC Chandigarh counselling. 

Panjab University Chandigarh BTech is a UG level programme, offered in full-time mode. The University offers BTech in various specialisations such as Chemical Engineering, CSE, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, EEE and many others. Admission to any of the specialisations is offered based on merit and entrance. Therefore, candidates must qualify Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 50% and secure valid scores in accepted entrance exams such as JEE Main, JAC Chandigarh, PSEB 12 etc.. The fee structure of BTech contains tuition fees ranging from INR 92.5 K to INR 6.2 Lakh. For the total course fees, candidates must enquire about the hostel fees, one-time payment and various other components.

Admissions in UIET for B.E. courses will be made on the basis of JEE (Main) All India Rank (AIR). There will be three rounds of online counselling followed by one last SPOT round of online counselling. Only the registered candidates will be able to participate in these rounds of counselling. So only 12th marks are not enough for admission in BE courses.

Yes, admission to the Bachelor of Engineering programmes at PU is based on candidates' performance in JEE Main exam followed by counselling conducted by JAC Chandigarh. BE is available at five PU-affiliated colleges which are part of JAC Chandigarh counselling. The university also conducts and considers the scores of PU LEET and PU MEET scores for lateral entry admissions. The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), at Chandigarh under Panjab University provides B.Tech placements with an salary offer of INR 8.72 LPA and a the highest offer reaching INR 45 LPA in the year 2023.

During that year a total of 382 offers were extended by over 50 recruiting companies. The mean salary has seen a rise from INR 6.96 LPA in the years of 2020 2021 to INR 8.89 LPA in 2023 with potential for growth, in 2024.

 

 

The highest package offered in the recent placements is not out yet. However, the NIRF report 2023 has revealed the 2022 median package details. The highest median package for the 2022 passing out batch was INR 8 LPA and was offered to LLM students.  For a few courses, such as MA, BA, MLib, etc., admissions are completely based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Students must go through the Panjab University CHD-conducted/ national-level entrances and then appear for the university-level selection rounds for final admission at Panjab University.

Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre offers UG, PG and Diploma across Engineering, Computer Applicatio and Law. At the UG level, the institute offers BA LLB, LLB and BTech programmes. At the PG level, the institute offers MCA and LLM courses to the students.

The highest package offered to the Engineering batch 2025 was INR 24 LPA. On the other hand, the highest salary offered to the MBA students during Punjab University placements 2025 was also INR 24 LPA.
