UIET is a great college for enjoyment and development simultaneously.
Placements: Placements in our college are above average. Almost all the eligible students get placed according to their skills. Our training and placement cell works quite efficiently and handles all the students during placements. Students are required to be dressed up properly according to the college rules to appear for placements.
Infrastructure: The campus has 3 main blocks. All the blocks have Wi-Fi facility, labs and classrooms. We have a basketball court, volleyball court, soccer ground, etc. Our college lacks a medical room. We have a separate library. We have access to AC Joshi Library of PU. A small canteen and a Nescafe booth are available.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified and experienced. They are very skilful in all respects. Students are given proper relaxation, and the required strictness is also maintained. Some teachers use powerpoint presentations for teaching which is a very good teaching strategy.

A good college but disappointing faculty and curriculum
Placements: There were about 90% placements of the students who appeared for placements of the ECE department. The highest salary offered was 12 LPA and the lowest was near around 3.3 LPA. Companies included Delloite, Infosys, Wipro, Honda, Gemini Solutions, Code Brew, etc. But core companies for branches like ECE, EEE, and biotech rarely visit the college for placements and internships. But ECE students are qualified to sit for IT placements of Delloite and consultancies and business management.
Infrastructure: Panjab University campus has every possible facility. The department of UIET also has well-equipped labs. The workshops have old machinery. The college canteen is of a satisfactory level in terms of taste and sanitation. Panjab University canteen or STUC has excellent food that is cheap and fantastic in taste. Hostel rooms are twin sharing and not the best but are very cheap with 15k for a year. There is lack of infrastructure for cells like Entrepreneurship Development Cell and there is no Incubation Center, which is highly needed.
Faculty: The faculty of ECE is highly qualified but not knowledgeable. The teachers are experienced but don't believe in the good of students and always find ways to punish or detain them. They have an egoistic attitude of being in UIET for so long that they demand respect and in no way earn it. Old techniques of dictating stuff from the book are used. Till now, no industry tour has been proposed. The curriculum is also tiring and almost irrelevant.

The grand university - Panjab University.
Placements: I and my senior batches were placed in high numbers. Almost 70% students from the ECE branch received offers from one or the other company. The highest salary offered was around 8 LPA, while the lowest was 3.5 LPA. Different companies namely, Deloitte, Aricent, ZS Associates, Nagarro, Infosys, TechMahindra, Honda, Jaarvis, etc. visited. The roles varied from software development to business analysts. Almost all the students who received offers for technological development roles also received the offer for 6 months internship which is allowed through the college during the 8th semester as an alternative to classroom study.
Infrastructure: Labs (however, a little outdated), fine big classrooms, grand library (Asia's largest), superb medical facilities, great sports complex and gaming zones. Grand cafeteria (Stu-C) where students from all over Chandigarh liked to come and share a snack. Great architectural structures. A total of 17 hostels for boys and girls.
Faculty: The faculty was helpful. Some were of great help as they had the deep knowledge of their domain. However, some were simply the placeholders. Labs for practicals and classroom tuition were the basic mode of teaching methodology. In addition, there were certain workshops and seminars for personality development being conducted by Infosys. For a batch of 120 students in ECE, there were more than 40 faculty members at multiple levels. The course curriculum definitely matched to those of the bigger better colleges like IITs, so definitely was helpful.

Value for money, less fees and decent placements.
Placements: The placements are good and a majority of IT companies visit, hence the students of the computer science stream have good chances of getting placed in good companies. However, the core companies for electronics and civil are less, so chances of getting placed in core companies are only for those students with a good technical proficiency. However, students in other streams also get placed comfortably due to mass recruiting companies.
Infrastructure: There are plenty of lecture halls and tutorial rooms, labs are equipped with basic equipment, and the library has a number of books. There is good infrastructure for different sports like football and basketball but there are no coaches. The food served in the college mess is okayish, and there is an option of a cafeteria as well where many people can be seen hanging out.
Faculty: The learning is mostly theoretical, hence the teaching gets monotonous sometimes. Also, the pedagogy should be improved but the faculty members are good. The faculty members are approachable and helpful. There are a number of clubs which can be joined and a large amount of peer learning happens in clubs itself. In terms of the course curriculum, some new subjects can be introduced which have a bit more relevance to the current times.
