My journey and experience at IITR.
Placements: In our CSE batch, around 90% of students get placed. Coming to packages, the highest package is at the crore level, the average package is 15 LPA, and the lowest package is 8 LPA. Top companies include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, quant companies, etc. The roles offered are SDE, data science, ML engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: For our department/course, we have fast Wi-Fi, modern labs, smart classrooms, and rich central libraries. Hostel facilities are decent enough with 24/7 internet. Even the mess food is good and decent. Medical centres are always available. Coming to the sports section, it is excellent and well-maintained.
Faculty: The teaching staff is highly qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is concept-oriented and very practical. The curriculum is relevant and industry-oriented. Semester exams are tough, but grading is very fair. The pass percentage is around 98% with regular attendance and effort.
Other: I chose computer science because I had a strong interest in coding and problem-solving. My best parts are strong fundamentals and projects. IIT Roorkee has vibrant fests, good connectivity, a green campus, scholarships, and active clubs.

I am absolutely satisfied because of the best faculty members and infrastructure.
Placements: Nearly 85% of students get placed in our course. The highest package is nearly 1 crore per annum. The lowest package is nearly 10 LPA and the average package is 40 LPA. The top recruiting companies for our course are Google, Microsoft, and IBM. Nearly 95% of students got internships at Google, Microsoft, IBM, and Bank of America. The top roles offered are software engineer, mobile app developer, and cybersecurity specialist.
Infrastructure: Our college provides free high-speed Wi-Fi, highly equipped labs, high infrastructure in the classroom with more capacity, and a huge library with books related to all branches and with an online book learning facility. The food is good mainly North Indian. The mess and canteen food will be good and even there will be a fruit stall, day canteen, night canteen, gym, TV room and study hall in every hostel. Medical facilities are 24x7 and even in an emergency, there is an ambulance. There are many sectors for sports with flexible timings.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable and qualified. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is very relevant, very useful in the future, and even interesting. There will be tutorials for 20-30 students to explain doubts regarding the lectures by PhD students. Semester exams are a bit difficult and the pass percentage is 90%.
Other: It is one of the oldest IITs. We will get better scholarships every year. Fests organised are great like Thomson, and E-summit.

A beautiful campus that anyone would love.
Placements: All the giants do come here, but it is not worth the hype. The management here is not able to call the quant giants like Optiver, so these things are disappointing, but the good thing is that more than 95 percent of CSE students got placed this year, and about 60 percent of students in PPO, and that's something really great. The top roles offered are like those of an SDE. This year, as far as I have heard, the highest package is of 1.62 crores per annum. One thing that could be done better is calling some quant giants for recruitment as well.
Infrastructure: Hostels for first year are decent but those of second, third, and fourth years are not good. The rooms are very small, and the washrooms are not very clean and are sinking too. The classrooms could have been a little better, as even some of their two and three-year ITs have better classrooms, and we do not have any synthetic race track so that's also a loophole. One more thing is that though healthy, the taste of the mess food is not good.
Faculty: Faculty, except for a few, are not up to the mark. I mean, they have the knowledge, they are well qualified, but they usually lack the ability to explain it to the students properly. Only a few professors are good at this. The course curriculum is quite relevant, and the difficulty level was also quite good, considering the fact that we are IITians.
Other: There is no need to tell why I chose CSE, I guess, because everyone knows it's hype. The fests of our college are among the best in North India. The system of scholarships could have been a little better because they ask for an ITR every year, whereas other colleges just rely on the income certificate. The seniors and the other people are also very good, and the perks of my college are the beautiful green environment close to the Himalayas, so you can go on trips at the end of every semester.

Students will experience a very interesting life here with good placements.
Placements: I am not sure about other branches but in our computer science branch this year, 105 out of 110 students got placed on campus. The highest package ranges from 1.5 or 2 crores per annum. The average package is 35 LPA and the lowest package is 16 LPA. Major companies like Microsoft, Google, and all others have offered placements.
Infrastructure: There is no doubt about Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, and the library. I think our Wi-Fi is the fastest Wi-Fi in all IITs. When it comes to food I am from South India so it is somewhat difficult to have hostel food but we have pretty good canteens. Students of North India will not have any problem I think.
Faculty: First of all, it is IIT and it is the top among the top 6 IITs, so I don't know about curriculum and courses. Professors are there to help us any time. They are ready at any time to clarify our doubts. They don't even hesitate how many we ask and we can do projects under their guidance.
Other: Events are fabulous. I chose IIT because it has nice placements with packages.

The campus looks so beautiful. The placements and infrastructure are really great.
Placements: Almost 90% of the students will definitely get placed, as we are all from a Computer Science background, and that too from a NIRF 5 college. All that matters here is CGPA, if it is 8.5 and above, then we can apply to any on-campus companies related to software and prepare according for the selection. Some of the well-known companies coming to our campus are Google, Microsoft, and Dream11. But note that a company gives the same CTC to all the students once placed there, apart from independent of their talent. For example, Google gives 19- 20 LPA and Microsoft gives 50 LPA as CTC.
Infrastructure: There are single, double, and triple rooms allotted, and I got a single room, which is very spacious. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. Also, for each hostel, there are 2 canteens, 1 study room with AC, a gym, and a play area too. The classrooms are well built and there are projectors, televisions, AC, and room heaters, so that students can focus well. The same works for the library, too. The labs are also well-equipped, and any damage will be repaired as soon as possible.
Faculty: There won't be any pass percentage, as most of the exams will be relatively graded. The teachers really have a great knowledge, but most of the time we can't understand their teaching, and we need to study on our own. I feel it happens in every top college, but the materials and resources they provide are good. Recently, some changes were made in our curriculum, which I personally did not like, as some less useful courses have been added and more useful courses have been removed.

Hi Tejwant, You will get admission in any of the IIT if you qualify JEE Advance exam otherwise you can't get admission in this college. This score in the board is sufficient. Best of luck.

Hello Akshat, Yes, it is necessary. Though you have a good percentage in board exams the admission is based on the ranks in JEE Advanced and so you need to write JEE Mains as well as JEE Advanced. You need to have a minimum of 75% to be eligible to write JEE.
