After the announcement of the GATE 2025 results, which was announced on March 19, Shiksha.com conducted a post-result poll to capture these reactions, asking candidates how their performance turned out. With 80 students participating, the poll revealed a spectrum of emotions. Read below for more.

IIT Roorkee announced GATE 2025 results on March 19, but before results were OUT there were a rush of emotions and predictions running among GATE aspirants. But after the result, we at Shiksha conducted a poll to know student's reactions about their performance and results. With 80 students participating in the poll, here's what the poll revealed.

Majority felt unsatisfied and planned to attempt NEXT year

Around 33% aspirants have planned to attempt GATE next year, and 31% were disappointed about their performance. Well, this shows that many were expecting good results, but somehow it did not match. Consider this is as a trial and start preparing right now. Track your mistakes and plan your goal.

Candidates aiming for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) need to meet these cutoff marks in JEE Mains to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026.

Q:   How many seats are there in IISc Bangalore?
A:

The gateway for each programme at IISc Bangalore required passing an entrance test. The institute considers scores in JEE Main, JEE Advanced, IISER Aptitude Test or NEET for BSc, JEE Main for BTech, GATE for MTech. The institute also accepts scores in IIT JAM, CEED, etc. for admission to specific programmes. Below is the course-wise intake for IISc Bangalore:

Q:   Which branch at IIT Madras has the highest cutoff?
A:

IIT Madras accepts JAM scores for admission to MSc programs. The IIT Madras cutoff 2025 has been released recently for the fourth round of seat allotment results for different categories belonging to the All India quota. The cutoff for the General AI category candidates was closed between the range of 155 and 228. Therefore, the highest cutoff rank for admission among the General AI category was 228, which was admission to M.Sc. in Chemistry. On the other hand, the highest cutoff for OBC AI category stood at 532 for the same course.

Q:   Is there any entrance exam for PhD at IIT Delhi?
A:

Yes, IIT Delhi accepts GATE/CEED/UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR entrance exam scores for admission to different specialisations offered under the IIT Delhi PhD programme. Candidates shortlisted based on the exam score can be called for an interview round by some of the departments. The accepted exam can vary depending upon the chosen PhD specialisation. 

Q:   Does passing UCEED 2023 guarantee BDes admission to IIT Delhi?
A:

Students seeking admission to BDes course (Bachelor of Design) at IIT Delhi are required to sit for UCEED exam 2023. UCEED releases qualifying cutoff in the form of mean deviation and standard deviation. Appearing in UCEED 2023 or being on the admission rank list does not guarantee admission to IIT Delhi BDes courses.

Candidates who have passed UCEED 2023 must apply separately to the UCEED participating institute for BDes admission. Apart from passing the UCEED exam, the candidates are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria, category certificates and other documents, as well as the UCEED score, to be verified by IIT Delhi.

IIT Guwahati will conduct GATE CSE exam on February 8, 2026 in two shifts. The CS1 will be held in first shift and CS2 in second shift. The exam timings can be checked below-
