GATE Score to Rank Conversion

GATE 2025 Score to Rank Conversion: IIT Roorkee announced the GATE results on March 19, with qualifying branch-wise marks. The GATE 2025 AIR rank list, which was published on March 25, indicates that many students have secured the same ranks. The GATE 2025 scorecard is now available on the GOAPS portal and is available for free download till May 31. After that, candidates can download their result scorecard till December 31, paying INR 500 per paper. Candidates can use their scorecard to apply for IITs separately for GATE MTech admissions. To download the scorecard, candidates need to provide their enrollment ID and password at GOAPS portal.

What is a good score in GATE: Branch-Wise GATE Rank Insights

Check the top branches GATE 2025 rank insights below -

GATE Mechanical Engineering

  • Top 100 ranks usually require 85+ marks or a score of 900+
  • A score of 700 to 800 may land you within the Top 1500, good enough for mid-tier IITs or NITs.

GATE Computer Science Engineering

  • Due to high competition, CS cutoffs tend to get high every year
  • A 900+ score usually means a rank under 100 and can offer top IITs with branches like CS and EC
  • 750–850 scores may give ranks between 200–700

GATE Electronics and Communication Engineering

  • For EC, a score above 850 often means a rank below 200.
  • 700–800 score lands within the Top 1000 AIR
  • Aspirants are advised to go through last 5 year's cutoff trends to analyse and make decision for counselling

In GATE, normalisation process generally makes a gap of 4 to 7 marks (approximately) between actual and normalised scores. However, if difficulty level of paper was high then the marks might increase. On other hand, for easier paper, marks may reduce offering fairness across sessions.
