IIT Madras launched GATE 2027 official website along with information bulletin and exam dates. GATE 2027 registration will start on August 14. The official website to apply is gate2027.iitm.ac.in. This year, IIT Madras have implemented many changes, starting from registration process to syllabus to new paper introduction. Read below to know more.

GATE 2027 Exam: This year, IIT Madras is conducting Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The official website of GATE 2027 is gate2027.iitm.ac.in. This year, th GATE exam 2027 will be conducted for three consecutive weeks, which means six days. In addition, a new GATE paper (Robotics and Automation) has been introduced, followed by revised GATE syllabus and paper codes.

What is GATE Exam

GATE, otherwise called the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is a national-level postgraduate engineering entrance exam. Through entrance test, candidates are offered admission to MTech, ME, and PhD programmes at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. In addition, qualifying GATE 2027, also provide an opportunity to apply for PSU jobs at ONGC, BHEL, AAI, NTPC, etc.

Q:   What is the highest GATE cutoff score for NIT M.Tech admission?
A: 

The highest GATE cutoff score for NIT M.Tech admission typically ranges from 800 to 850 in the first round. Some of the top NITs include NIT Surathkal, NIT Trichy, and NIT Warangal, accept admissions with GATE score 800 above for branches like EC, CS, ME, and EE.

Qualified candidates have to register at the CCMT portal to participate in the GATE counselling. The counselling process will begin in June/July.

Q:   How much GATE score is required for M.Tech at IIT?
A: 

A GATE score of 700 to 800 is mainly required for M.Tech admission at IIT (especially for top IITs). However, the score also depends on the IIT popularity, branch popularity, and other factors. For new IITs, a GATE score of 500 to 600 is mainly required. 

It is advised to check the past year's GATE cutoff trends before opting for counselling and admission. 

GATE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who want to apply for GATE paper must check the eligibility criteria before. The eligibility criteria are different for each GATE 2027 course.

  • Candidates with bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline from a recognised university/institute can apply.

  • Students in their 3rd year or final year are also eligible IIT Madras GATE 2027 admission

  • Candidates with BSc/B.A or B.Com degree can also apply.

GATE 2027 Conducted by which IIT

The GATE 2027 exam dates is now available. IIT Madras will conduct GATE 2027. Earlier, IIT Maras also conducted Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering in the following years - 2019, 2011, 2003, 1997, 1991, and 1985.

IIT Madras will release GATE application form 2027 on official website. Candidates meeting eligibility must submit their form before deadline. Online registrations are available at GOAPS. The process to apply can be checked below -

Q:   Can commerce students apply for GATE exam?

Yes, candidates having qualifying degree in B.Com can apply for GATE exam to get admission to the master's programmes in IITs and IISc. Candidates must go through the GATE information brochure carefully before applying. Also, students in 3rd year or final year in commerce are also eligible for GATE.

The cutoff score in GATE is the minimum mark required to qualify for the exam. The conducting body releases the qualifying cutoff along with result. It determines, whether a candidate is eligible to participate in the counselling round or not. 

The cutoff score in GATE varies every year (category-wise), depending on the number of students registered, difficulty level of the question paper, and previous year's trends. The GATE cutoff score are mainly of two types - admission and qualifying cutoff.

Q:   When will IIT Guwahati release GATE 2026 cutoff?
A: 

Indian Institute of Technology released GATE cutoff 2026. The IITG GATE 2026 result has been declared. The conducting body releases the exam result and cutoff for all 30 subjects. The cutoff for GATE 2026 is available category-wise. Candidates securing the minimum cutoff will be eligible to participate in counselling. 

Note: The minimum qualifying cutoff is different for all subjects.

Considering the past year's trends and experts analysis, GATE CSE, ECE, and EE papers are considered as the toughest papers in GATE exam. Here's why -

  • Complex technical concepts and fundamentals

  • Heavy mathematics

  • Branch popularity and number of registered candidates are more.

Q:   What is the rank for 40 marks in GATE?
A: 

40 marks in GATE will approximately give a rank between 2000 to 5000 depending on the paper difficulty level and the number of registered candidates in that particular branch.  Obtaining 40 marks is mainly considered average, opening chances to a few new IITs (less popular branches) and NITs.

However, rank for 40 marks in the Graduate Aptitude in Engineering can give a different rank value for different branches and disciplines. For example, 40 marks in GATE CSE can correspond to 9000 to 10000 rank. On the other hand, 40 marks in GATE ME, can correspond to 6000 - 7100 rank. 

Advice to students who secured 40 marks in GATE exam: Better to apply in some state-level colleges or new NITs.

The cutoff is the minimum mark that is required for all candidates to qualify for the exam. IIT Guwahati announced GATE result 2026 on March 19. 

While filling GATE 2027 application form candidates have to submit following documents-

  • Photo and Signature according to specifications

  • Valid ID proof (scanned)

GATE Form Correction Window

Once registration is complete, IIT Guwahati will activate form correction window for students to make changes to their application form. The GATE correction facility 2027 will be available at GOAPS. Students who want to make changes in their GATE exam application form must make changes to their form before due date.

Q:   Can I apply for CCMT offline?
A: 

No. Candidate can apply online only for CCMT. The candiadtes must visit the official website to apply for the counselling during the dates specified. Offline submission of CCMT application form is not allowed by the authority. Candidates must create a registration ID to access the CCMT result portal.

Q:   My score is 550/1000 in Mechanical Engineering. How much rank will I get in GATE?
A: 

A GATE score of 550 in mechanical engineering will fetch you a rank range of 1500 - 3000. Students with this GATE score range can opt for M.Tech at NIT Calicut, NIT Trichy, etc. 

The paper analysis will be released after each shift of the exam. Many subject-matter experts and coaching centres will upload GATE 2027 paper analysis. With the help of the GATE 2027 paper review, students can analyse their performance and predict theirs scores. 

GATE Answer Key 2027

The IIT GATE official answer key, along with question paper and response sheet will be uploaded after completion of the exam. The expected date for GATE 2027 final answer key is March 2027. Candidates who appeared for the computer-based test can download their GATE exam answer key at GOAPS portal using their enrollment ID and password. With the help of answer key and response sheet, students can evaluate their scores and predict their admission chances using GATE college predictor.

GATE 2027 Result

GATE result will be declared after the completion of the exam. The expected GATE result 2027 date is March 19, 2027. Candidates who appeared for the paper can check their results at GOAPS. The result will determine the qualifying cutoff for the respective branch/subject. 

GATE Counselling 2027

Once the results are declared. Two separate portals: CCMT and COAP will handle the GATE counselling process.

  • COAP is responsible for admission to IITs and IISc
  • While CCMT is responsible for NITS, IIITs, and GFTIs admission.

Only students with valid GATE scorecard will be eligible for the counselling. The GATE scorecard is valid for three years. Qualified candidates will be offered GATE stipend during their master’s degree for two years.
