What is GATE Exam?

GATE, otherwise called the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is a national-level postgraduate engineering entrance exam. Through entrance test, candidates are offered admission to MTech, ME, and PhD programmes at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. In addition, qualifying GATE 2027, also provide an opportunity to apply for PSU jobs at ONGC, BHEL, AAI, NTPC, etc. 

What’s New in GATE 2027?

If there will be any changes in GATE 2027, the organising IIT body (IIT Madras) will notify in the information. However, as per the last year, two major changes were made in GATE exam, which are -

  • A new sectional paper was introduced under Engineering Sciences (XE), named Energy Science.

  • The GATE registration fee was increased for all categories.

IIT Madras GATE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who want to apply for GATE paper must check the eligibility criteria before. The eligibility criteria are different for each GATE 2027 course.

  • Candidates with bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline from a recognised university/institute can apply.

  • Students in their 3rd year or final year are also eligible IIT Madras GATE 2027 admission

  • Candidates with BSc/B.A or B.Com degree can also apply.

GATE 2027 Application Form 

IIT Madras will release GATE application form 2027 on official website. Candidates meeting eligibility must submit their form before deadline. Online registrations are available at GOAPS. The process to apply can be checked below -

  • Go to offcial website

  • Now click on GOAPS 2027 GATE application form link 

  • Register and generate login credentials

  • Login using enrollment ID and password

  • Fill personal, educational, exam paper, centre, and other details

  • Upload documents as per specifications.

GATE scorecard 2026 is valid for three years, which means the scorecard can be used till March 31, 2029. Candidates can download their scorecard using their enrollment ID and password. It can be used for MTech, PhD, Research work admissions and PSU recruitment.

Q:   What is the highest GATE cutoff score for NIT M.Tech admission?
A: 

The highest GATE cutoff score for NIT M.Tech admission typically ranges from 800 to 850 in the first round. Some of the top NITs include NIT Surathkal, NIT Trichy, and NIT Warangal, accept admissions with GATE score 800 above for branches like EC, CS, ME, and EE.

Qualified candidates have to register at the CCMT portal to participate in the GATE counselling. The counselling process will begin in June/July.

Q:   How much GATE score is required for M.Tech at IIT?
A: 

A GATE score of 700 to 800 is mainly required for M.Tech admission at IIT (especially for top IITs). However, the score also depends on the IIT popularity, branch popularity, and other factors. For new IITs, a GATE score of 500 to 600 is mainly required. 

It is advised to check the past year's GATE cutoff trends before opting for counselling and admission.

Documents required while filling GATE 2027 Application Form

While completing GATE registration 2027, candidates have to submit following documents-

  • Photo and Signature according to specifications

  • Valid ID proof (scanned)

For students who belong to reserved category or having dyslexic issue, then they have to submit scanned documents of following -

  • SC/ST certificate

  • UDID/PwD certificate

  • Dyslexic certificate

All the above documents must be in PDF format. 

GATE Form Correction Window

After registration last date and form submission, the IIT GATE 2027 conducting body will activate the form correction link for students to rectify their form. The correction window will be available for a limited period of time. Students who want to make changes in their GATE 2027 application form must do so before last date.

  • The difficulty level of GATE paper is unpredictable and varies every year. 

So, the best way to keep in mind while preparing for GATE 2027 is -

GATE Exam 2027 Admit Card

The admit card for GATE MTech 2027 will be issued to students who have registered for the exam. The hall ticket will be updated on the official website at GOAPS. The GATE admit card will contain complete details of the exam and applicant. To download hall ticket, candidates will have to enter their enrollment ID and password. Candidates will require their admit card at the time of admission and document verification for counselling.

GATE 2027 Subject-Wise Exam Dates

IIT Madras will release GATE 2027 branch-wise exam dates along with shift timings. Candidates appearing for the GATE CSE, ECE, DA, or any other subject paper must download their admit card and follow the exam guidelines before reaching test centre. 

GATE 2027 Paper Analysis

The paper analysis will be released after each shift of the exam. Many subject-matter experts and coaching centres will upload GATE 2027 paper analysis. With the help of the GATE 2027 paper review, students can analyse their performance and predict theirs scores. 

GATE Answer Key 2027

The IIT GATE official answer key, along with question paper and response sheet will be uploaded after completion of the exam. The expected date for GATE 2027 final answer key is March 2027. Candidates who appeared for the computer-based test can download their GATE exam answer key at GOAPS portal using their enrollment ID and password. With the help of answer key and response sheet, students can evaluate their scores and predict their admission chances using GATE college predictor.

GATE 2027 Result

GATE result will be declared after the completion of the exam. The expected GATE result 2027 date is third week of March. Candidates who appeared for the paper can check their results at GOAPS. The result will determine the qualifying cutoff for the respective branch/subject. 

GATE Counselling 2027

Once the results are declared. Two separate portals: CCMT and COAP will handle the GATE counselling process.

  • COAP is responsible for admission to IITs and IISc
  • While CCMT is responsible for NITS, IIITs, and GFTIs admission.

Only students with valid GATE scorecard will be eligible for the counselling. The GATE scorecard is valid for three years. Qualified candidates will be offered GATE stipend during their master’s degree for two years. To understand the eligibility and documents required understanding the GATE scholarship feature is important.

IIIT Ranchi considers the score of GATE exam for M.Tech admission. However, it is not compulsory. The M.Tech admission will be through online/offline counselling based on the GATE score and/or written test and/or interview by the respective departments at IIIT Ranchi.
