GATE CSE Revised Syllabus 2027
This year, IIT Madras have revised the GATE syllabus for CSE. According to the new GATE exam syllabus, three core subjects from CSE have been modified. These are COA, Digital Logic and Computer Network. Around 35% of the syllabus from Computer Network has been slashed.
Why did IIT Madras change GATE 2027 CS Syllabus
After every few years, the organising IIT reviews the GATE exam syllabus for each paper to keep it aligned with industry trends. Here’s what exactly changed in GATE Computer Science and Information Technology Syllabus 2027:
| GATE CSE Subject |
GATE 2027 Revised Syllabus |
|---|---|
| Digital Logic (made more specific) |
The topic of minimisation now explicitly names Karnaugh map and tabular method (Quine-McCluskey) as the techniques to master, instead of having it generic. However, the core content remains the same |
| Computer Organisation and Architecture |
The control unit design splits into hardwired and microprogrammed control, and the memory section names cache memory mapping techniques. Main memory and secondary storage have been dropped |
| Computer Networks |
The computer networks had maximum reduction. The topics that are removed are:
