GATE 2027 Registration Fee: Regular Vs Extended

The GATE registration fee last date refers to the deadline of submitting the application form. Candidates can pay GATE 2027 registration fee in two timelines: 

  • Regular period - It means that GATE application form fee payment can be done without paying additional (open from August 14 to September 21, 2026)

  • Extended period - It means submission of GATE exam application form by paying late fees (open from September 22 to September 30, 2026)

According to the official notification, compared to last year, there is no change in the GATE exam application form fees. The fee payment is mandatory as it confirms your registration for the MTech entrance test.

How to pay GATE 2027 Registration Fees

The GATE GOAPS portal allow candidates to partially save their application form. In such case, if a candidate has not completed their payment for GATE exam form or is filling the form, then they can GATE application fee following the process mentioned below.

  • Go to official website- gate2027.iitm.ac.in

  • Click on GOAPS portal and login using enrolment ID and password

Now, there are two cases for fee payment and can be checked below:

GATE Registration Fee Payment Process: If the exam form is already filled

If the GATE exam form 2027 is already filled, then candidates can see an option for “proceed for fee payment” at GATE candidate login. Click on the link and select the payment mode to pay registration fee. 

GATE Registration Fee Payment Process: During the form-filling process

When filling the application form, candidates will get the fee payment facility after submitting and uploading all the information. Such candidates have to select accepted payment modes from the section and make the fee payment.

The acceptable fee payment modes for the GATE application form includes the following:

  • Internet banking/Netbanking

  • Debit card

  • Credit card

  • Wallet

  • UPI

The fee amount and bank charges will be shown to the candidate, and they will have to confirm and pay. Once the payment is successful, the candidate will be redirected to the GATE 2027 application portal, from where a pdf copy of the submitted application form can be downloaded. 

How to Pay GATE Registration 2027 Fee

Candidates can make the GATE application form fee payment following the steps below:

  • Go to official website - gate2027.iitm.ac.in
  • Register and fill personal and educational qualification details
  • Upload documents as per the specifications 
  • Proceed to make the payment
  • Select the payment mode and pay GATE exam fee
  • Download and save the receipt for future reference

Is GATE Exam Fee Refundable

No, the GATE registration fee 2027 is completely non-refundable. However, if the application fee is deducted multiple times, then the additional amount will be refunded within 15 days to the source account. Candidates are advised to keep checking their account and GOAPS portal to track the status of their fee payment. Also, keep the transaction receipt carefully till the completion of GATE exam registration process is completed. 

GATE Application Fee Payment Issue

If the candidate has a difficulty (for example, due to poor internet connection or power failure problems), or the candidate is not sure whether the payment has been processed or not, then the candidate should check the status of transaction from their bank account and also login back to GATE 2027 application portal after some time and check the status of the payment. 

To check GATE application status, candidates have to login to GOAPS using their enrolment ID and password. The status of GATE 2027 exam will be displayed on the screen. 

GATE 2027 Registration Fee Payment and Refund Policies

  • If the payment was received by authorities, the candidate can continue submitting the GATE application form. 

  • If the payment is not received by GATE 2027 exam form, a fresh payment must be initiated. 

  • In case the fee amount has been debited (deducted) from the candidate’s bank account, but an acknowledgement for fee payment has not been received from Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, then the money will be credited to the same bank account within 15 working days.
