The percentage of candidates qualifying has varied over the years, which are as follows -
- 2020 - Approximately 18.8% qualification rate
- 2021 - A slight decrease to 17.8%
- 2022 - The rate stabilised to 18.9%
- 2023 - A further reduction to 18.9%
- 2024 - An increase to 19.8% due to new changes in GATE, such as the inclusion of the GATE two paper combination and other factors.
Over the past few years, the GATE has increased registrations and candidate attendance fluctuations. However, there was a slight peak in 2024. Qualifying rates have also experienced minor fluctuations, while the cutoff score for the subject papers have varied, reflecting changes in the exam difficulty level and the candidate’s performance. IIIT Allahabad accpets JEE Main score for admission to the BTech courses. As per the IIIT Allahabad cutoff 2023, the Last Round closing rank for BTech ranged between 5924 and 9558, among which Information Technology was the most competitive specialisation. The Round 1 closing rank for BTech ranged between 4817 and 8428 for BTech.
So, considering the previous year Round 1 and the Last Round closing ranks, candidates seeking admission to IIIT Allahabad must secure a rank over and above 4800 and 9600 for the General ALL India category candidates.
