Eligibility for IIT Kharagpur GATE 2025 Admissions
The GATE 2025 IIT Kharagpur MTech admission eligibility details are mentioned below -
Yes, candidates having qualifying degree in B.Com can apply for GATE exam to get admission to the master's programmes in IITs and IISc. Candidates must go through the GATE information brochure carefully before applying. Also, students in 3rd year or final year in commerce are also eligible for GATE.
For admission to MBA at VGSOM (IIT Kharagpur), candidates need to qualify CAT followed by group discussion and personal interview round. The minimum CAT percentile required is 90 for general category students. For NC-OBC and SC/ ST/ PwD the minimum CAT percentile required is 80 and 75 respectively.
To be eligible for admission to MBA at VGSOM, candidates must have the following:
- A bachelor’s degree of minimum 4-year duration in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, Medicine, or similar streams
- OR a master’s degree in Science/ Economics/ Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) with 60% aggregate (or CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale) for General and NC-OBC candidates and 55% aggregate (or CGPA of 6.0 on a 10-point scale) for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.
- Candidates appearing for the final year of the bachelor’s degree/ equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply
Selection of candidates for admission to MBA at VGSoM, IIT Kharagpur is a two-step process. The applicants are shortlisted based on eligibility criteria and called for an online Personal Interview (PI). Final admission to MBA is offered on the basis of a cumulative score of the Application Rating (AR), performance score in CAT, and the candidate’s performance in the online PI round. - Open to all categories with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/MSc or equivalent (AMIE, etc.).

For Institutes Considering Final Year or Last Two Semesters

Final-year students (2023 pass-outs) must submit original certificates and mark sheets at admission. Reservations apply as per Government of India rules (EWS/OBC/SC/ST/PwD).
Direct Admission for IIT B.Tech Students
- B.Tech graduates from IITs (2021/2022) with CGPA ≥ 8.0 are eligible without GATE.

IIT Kharagpur GATE MTech Application Process
The step-by-step process to apply for the IIT Kharagpur GATE 2025 application form is as follows -
Registration
Register with a valid GATE registration number, year of appearing in the GATE exam, COAP registration number, qualifying degree, category, etc. After successful registration, a login ID and password will be sent to the email address registered while filling out the GATE application form.
Filling Details
After successful registration, log in using the credentials, fill out the personal and academic details, and upload the documents mentioned.
Uploading of the documents
Applicants must upload the following documents while filling out the GATE 2025 IIT Kharagpur application form.
IIT Kharagpur cutoff for 2025 has been released for the first round, on the basis of JEE Advanced scores. The cutoff was released for different categories under the All India quota. For the General AI category candidates, the cutoff ranks varied between 450 and 17823, for different BTech/Integerated BTech/BSc/BArch courses. Among the OBC category candidates, the cutoff ranks varied between 209 and 6719. For the SC AI category candidates, the ranks varied between 102 and 3363. The table given below records the round 1 cutoff for IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 for the General AI category candidates:
- Date of Birth certificate (original birth certificate, admit card, or certificate of class 10+2
- Scanned passport-size photograph
- Qualifying degree certificate and marksheet/grade sheet. Candidates who are in the final semester/year must submit their recent completed or available semester/year mark sheet.
- Category certificate
- A certificate showing proof of having mathematics at the 10+2 level or degree level
Payment of the application fees
Before making the payment, candidates must check all the details carefully. The mode of the IIT Kharagpur GATE application form is online only.
- The application fee is INR 500 for Gen/OBC/EWS male/Transgender candidates
- For females and PwD/SC/ST candidates, the application fee is INR 250
Final Submission of the Application Form

The Science and the HSS Department of IIT Kharagpur started four-year BSc programme admission to which is subject to a valid rank in JEE Advanced exam. Aspirants seeking IIT Kharagpur BSc and Integrated MSc admission need to qualify for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams to get shortlisted. For eligibility, candidates are required to have completed their Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate.
