List of popular colleges offering admission through TNEA

TNEA is the short form of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions. It is conducted by the Directorate Of Technical Education (DOTE) Chennai and earlier, TNEA was conducted by Anna University. TNEA is organised every year for admission to engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu in online mode. Applicants seeking admission to undergraduate engineering courses offered by the colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu have to register for TNEA with their class 12 marks. More than 1.5 lakh engineering aspirants get themselves enrolled into engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu.

Candidates are evaluated only based on their performance in the class 12th qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as their main subjects. 1. Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore (MCET)

Established in 1998, the MCET is a private self-financing institute approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated to Anna University. The institute offers 8 undergraduate and 6 postgraduate courses. Undergraduate engineering courses offered by MCET are Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation, Mechanical, Automobile, Computer Science and Engineering, Civil, Production, Mechatronics Engineering.

2. PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore

Established in 1951, the college is a government-aided autonomous institution affiliated with Anna University. The campus is well equipped to provide its students with 48 full-time and part-time courses in the field of computer applications, science and management at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The popular streams in the BTech programme are Automobile, civil, Robotics & Automation, Information and Mechanical Engineering provided on the campus.

3. Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai

Funded by the Central and State Governments, the college offers undergraduate engineering programmes with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approval. The college offers seven undergraduate, 14 postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering, science and architecture. Students can opt for various branches in undergraduate engineering courses such as B.E. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communications, Computer Science and Engineering, BTech Information Technology and B.Arch. Architecture.

4. Government College of Technology, Coimbatore

Another Anna University affiliated college, the Government College of Technology, is a state-funded autonomous engineering college. The college offers its students full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various fields. Some of the popular disciplines under the BTech programme include civil, mechanical, electronic & instrumental and industrial biotechnology engineering.

5. Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore

Recognised by the AICTE and NAAC, Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT) is a government-aided autonomous engineering college. CIT offers 10 undergraduate and seven postgraduate along with M.Sc and Ph.D research programmes to its students. The college is also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation which offers Mechanical (Sandwich) and Mechanical Engineering diploma programmes.

6. Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbadur, Kancheepuram (Dist)

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) located at Pennalur, Sriperumbudur is established by the Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC) group, a petrochemical corporation in India. The institute is among the top ten engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu. Some of the popular undergraduate courses opted by students are B.E Automobile, civil, computer science and engineering and Marine engineering.

7. Government College of Engineering, Salem

Government College of Engineering has a beautiful 400-acre campus surrounded by hills and is the third government engineering college in the state of Tamil Nadu. The college offers both regular as well as part-time programmes to its students in various fields. Apart from undergraduate courses, the college offers M.E, M.Sc and research scholars PhD and M.S programmes to its students. Some of the popular courses at the undergraduate level are Civil, mechanical and electronics & communication engineering.

8. Kongu Engineering College, Erode

Founded by Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust (KVITT) in 1984, the college is affiliated with Anna University, Chennai. The campus is spread over 173.25 acres of land and is ranked fourth amongst the top private engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.

Students are offered with a wide variety of programmes such as B.E Mechanical, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electronics and Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation and B.Tech Information Technology, Food Technology and Chemical Engineering. The college also invites students to learn 14 ME programmes, three undergraduate and four postgraduate courses in the field of applied sciences.

9. Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College, Kodambakkam, Chennai

Meenakshi Sundararajan Engineering College is well known for imparting quality education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the fields of Science, Engineering, Arts, Commence and Management.

The campus consists of four blocks dedicate only to engineering college designed according to the latest industrial standards by L&T. The college offers B.Tech Information Technology, B.E. in Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, Computer Science and Electronics and Communication to its students.

10. Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli

State-owned engineering college, Government College of Engineering is another Anna University-affiliated college located in the town of Tirunelveli. The college campus is spread over an area of 23 hectares, offering five B.E and three postgraduate programmes. Courses available for B.E programmes include civil, computer, Mechanical, Electronics & Communication and Electrical & Electronics Engineering offered to the students.

11. MepcoSchlenk Engineering College, Virudhunagar

This private engineering college is well known for its undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. The college offers four four-year BE programmes in courses such as Bio-Technology, Mechanical, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Civil and Information Engineering. 12. Bharathidasan Institute of Engineering and Technology – Tiruchirappalli

Established in 1999, Bharathidasan Institute of Engineering and Technology (BIT) was formerly known as the School of Engineering and Technology established by Bharathidasan University. BIT offers learning in different branches including Pharmaceutical Technology, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Bio-Technology, Civil, Electrical & Electronic and Electronics & Communication Engineering courses. Shiv Nadar University TNEA cutoff 2025 ranged from 513 to 9832 in the last round for the General AI category. The cutoff was out for different categories and engineering courses.

No, you cannot get admission at CECRI Karaikudi with the rank of 2526. But other colleges might accept your rank. 

For eg, the College of Engineering Guindy accepts a rank up to 3451 for the BTech in Chemical Engineering programme. Similarly,  Shiv Nadar University also accepts a rank up to 9832 for

CECRI Karaikudi TNEA cutoff 2025 was 2524 for the General AI category in the last round. The cutoff was released for different All India categories for all rounds.
